Had a variety of tents, tipis, motorhomes, caravans and now back to a coach built motorhome!
We’re heading off to France next week for roughly a couple of months. I’ve only booked the outward journey as we’re not sure exactly when we’re returning.
We have an annual travel insurance policy with Barclays (Aviva) and if we go away for more than 31 days it costs extra and we have to log a “trip”. But doing that requires us to confirm we have a return trip booked, which I don’t want to do!
How do others get over this, if indeed you do!?

We have Virgin annual gold cover which covers trips of 93 days, but every company we have used specified that you needed to have a return booking.

Ho do these companies insist on such a provision for continental European travellers who just drive away and back for their holidays with no ferry or airline involved?

Of course, they can't, so it is discriminative to do so for UK travellers.

Thanks for the replies. It seems I just need to suck it up and book the return so I’ve done that.
