Hi all I have a small solar panel which I leave on dash of my transit Plugged into lighter to keep the cab battery topped up and I find it works well .But I wonder if I can connect the crocodile clips it comes with under the bonnet on the jump start points it’s just I want to fit my silver screen on outside and would like the solar then to be outside to 👍

I can’t see why you couldn’t.....the jump start point will have sufficient diameter cables, so voltage drop shouldn’t adversely affect it and the panel should work better not being behind the glass.

On my transit the starter batteries are under the driver's seat. Slide seat forward and then slide cover forward. This accesses the terminal on back battery, I connect an Aldi trickle charger at that point. All the Graham

Dazz. I've done this very thing on my Merc SLK that I don't use much. Used the jump start points through a line fuse and routed into the grill with a small connector. I use a connector so I can plug my battery chatrger if needed and leave on charge and locked up.

Oh great thanks 🙏

I have a 2010 Transit.
There is 2 batteries ex-factory under the driver's seat.
One is a 60A starter battery the other is a 100A aux battery.
There are 3 X 60A accessory fuses under the seat.

Electrically there's no problem, but is it weatherproof? It might have an IP rating. Anything IP44 or more is OK for outside in the rain, but it might be IP20 or IP22, which will have problems in the rain.

Well I took a look at drivers seat earlier to see if I could access the cab battery to fit the lead for trickle charger .But it looks like I’ll have to take the seat off to access it I pushed the seat right forward but there is a solid plastic cover fitted underside the swivel plate .Also I’m concerned if I have to disconnect battery to fit the trickle charge lead will I need ford radio code as I can’t find one in my pack

Only you when you turn the ignition key ..................................

dosen't the EHU charger keep the engine battery charged.?

our CBE system on our 66 plated chausson does .( 2015 built Tranny ) according to the handbook, keep the control panel on in the van of course.

+1 for what AXO66 said, the CBE System on my 14 plate Chausson (Fiat) charges my cab battery too.

I started it today for the first time since February with no issues.

When I put a multi-meter on my jump start point I see battery voltage without the key....But again it is Fiat based.

No on my 58 transit mk7 Chausson Flash 02 EHU only charges leisure battery so just wounded if this will work what I’ve done fitted to outside so I can fit silver screen .Also any flash02 owners to correct me if I’m wrong on leisure battery only charge on EHU 👍

You could stick a multi-meter on the jump start point and Earth while there is no key in to make sure the power will get through with the ignition off. That would rule out the problem that Axo66 mentioned.

If you see somewhere around 12v there shouldn’t be any issue with it as it is.

Hi on mine theirs a toggle to release on the front of the plastic lid and a handle to pull forward before moving seat forward. I had problems charging under the bonnet and was unable to jump start so always direct to the battery with good clean terminals all the best Graham
