HI all
Upgrading my current van and have been researching insurance quotes, I have been informed by all by one of the insurance companies the new van i am buying needs an approved tracker fitting because to its value, the fact it is parked in a very secure location is irrelevant, the cheaper ones I have found so far cost circa £200 which is reasonable enough but then you have an annual subscription of a further £140 so added all to the insurance cost its becoming horrendous.
Does anyone know of an insurance approved tracker that doesn't cost the earth with reasonable subscriptions.
thanks

You will need a Thatcham approved S5 or S7 tracker for insurance purposes. Unfortunately they are not cheap and I think they have to be fitted by a Thatcham approved installer not self fitted.

I had mine done a few ,months ago and shopped around. The best deal I could get was for fitting and 3 years subscription included (also with an App to personally track). Came in at £500. It is a Smart Track S7.

+1 I have an AXA policy for £330 pa no tracker necessary
(I mainly got rid of the CobraTrak because it was intermittently inhibiting the starter, nightmare to trace/eliminate)

I've got a Sargent S7 in the Swift. They're factory fitted and £350 for three year subscription.

At least if you Have a good tracker fitted-and it’s stolen you won’t have to put on Facebook ,camper just stolen off driveway ,please look out for it. You can look at the app and see where it is. At least you’ve got a while to find it before they find the tracker

If you're going to keep the MH for a while it's worth getting one along with a lifetime subscription as it will reduce your insurance each year. If you search the forum with my username and TRACKER you should see all the info I posted previously.

A monitored Tracker might well be useless , if it can be blocked as easily as Eddie suggests. But if the insurance companies will not give cover without it there is not much choice, I had the Vanbitz Growler and non-starter fitted, plus Smartrack fitted by a local fitter at home, with a 'life of the vehicle subscription' as there was no way I wanted to pay £150 year subscription. In the event, I have recently sold it  and ordered a new one, and, lucky for me, the 'lifetime' subscription is also transferable to one other vehicle, within 12 months.

My insurance gave me 25% off for fitting a thatcham 7 phantom tracker. Pays for the tracker over about 3or 4 years
