The electrolux 3 way in my AS Amethyst is now over 20 years old and is begining to show it's age, so I want to replace with a compressor fridge, preferably one that will just slot in and run off the battery+ solar panel together with 240v on EHU. Since ther are several other largish upgrades I want to undertake this year I want a fridge that is'nt going to break the bank- so no suggestions for +£1k super freezers thank you. I guess my budget will be around the £500 mark and I'm sure I will get many and varied suggestions from you good people- so fire away and give us your recommendations please.

When you say showing it’s age do you mean broken or just tatty etc

Just my opinion but if not broken I would keep it as I have been told by a few people the fridges of that era were so much better built than the later ones.

This one? Avoid modern Dometic fridges

Too tall. It needs to slot in to the under-counter slot.

It's tatty, not working at all on gas. never gets down to a decent temp, and takes up a lot of room for what it does.

I will probably add another solar panel, which was on the cards anyway.

If a slide in is'nt forthcoming I may just take it out, flog it for spares and get one of those 'portable' compressor coolers and make some extra storage.

wondered about this one. needs an extra transformer.
