This and that, of which I know very little.

QUOTE - "The C of C required by the DVLA must be an embossed original and not a copy, they will accept a replacement from the builder.
We had to get one for our 10001 from Rapido it took the dealer in Germany 6 weeks before they received it.

Can you elaborate?

What would be the incentive for a manufacturer to hand over such a document to a non-franchised dealer? None that I can think of...

How can applicants have access to the original, embossed or not? Would it not be found in a drawer, in the HQ of where the thing was built? That could be anywhere. And embossed by whom, with what? Surely a certified document from another country has no legal weight here. Surely it's held by the manufacturer and is but a single copy? Would Rapido et al not just turn round and tell those applying to take a running jump; especially the French! "Eeess nut ma problem Eeeenngllisshh type pursun, booger uff bac to leetel old eeengland!" in a monty python style of course...

Unless of course each seperate UK based manufacturer's HQ has a specific, certified version of a C-of-C? It would seem a bit laborious if that were the case, especially within the EU. One of the benefits of EU standardisation is that we are supposed to be free of this kind of bureaucratic red tape; A C-of-C if issued in Europe should be valid in Europe, Anywhere. At least for a few more months anyway. I mean who the XXXX do these people think they are!?

The DVLA is nothing more that a bloody Welsh job creation scheme, absolute bloody shower as Terry Thomas used to say! Of course we must never forget that self perpetuation is the underlying purpose of all bureaucracies, not to serve, but to entrench, consolidate and expand, like scrot-rot!

In answer to earlier questions. Yes, I did consider contacting the DVLA, but they won't speak to me as it's not my m/v, data security and all that. Anyway, why should I? It's the dealers job not mine. If I was going to go down that route I may as well have imported it myself and cut out the middle man. Plus, the idea of having to deal with some slow, disinterested, poorly motivated, underpaid, undervalued agency worker on minimum wage, who probably couldn't give a monkey's, just doesn't appeal.

RANT! - I think that's the real problem right there. All our agencies and services have been privatised, emasculated, out-sourced, sold and trimmed down to the bone in the interests of 'efficiency' but I prefer words like, abdicated, abrogated and abandoned (I will get to the other 25 letters)! They are shadows of their former selves lacking in expertise, a service ethos, knowledge, experience and a desire to actually provide a decent service. It's a race to the bottom. Overseen - as nobody manages - by accountants, HR wasters, lawyers and consultants who have no experience, these secular apparatchiks with their spread sheets and buzzwords know the cost of everything but the value of nothing, specialising only in implementing death by a thousand cuts. Only the service user suffers...

Don’t hold back. No,seriously,speak your mind!:D

Ha, if I went and gave you a proper rant then I'd be banned before I got to ten posts!

have you asked the dealer exactly what is causing the delay? Having had mixed experiences with the DVLA on various topics, I found that they did at least tell me what was needed/missing. The dealer should be able to tell you what is causing the problem, and what they are doing about it. On another topic, I bought a new Rapido in 2008, bits were missing, the dealer was useless, so I rang Rapido in France - they refused to even talk to me as a member of the public!

We have customers that book in with us and have been delayed Months due to the DVLA messing them and dealers around. If it were you 1st choice motorhome, having waited so long, I'd stick with it.

Yes, spoke to the owner a few weeks ago and he informs me that the DVLA sat on the package for over a month then bounced it because they demanded an original certificate of conformity. This was duly supplied and a new return date agreed on, three weeks; that was this Friday past. As we are still having this conversation you can surmise that the deadline has been passed and the DVLA hasn't so much as phoned to explain. The office manager of the dealership assures me that they are on their case daily. It's like a bloody Kafka novel, I may burst, or turn into a big fly!

Bingo. It has happened. Thought I'd let yo all know and put you out of your misery, as I am sure you were all sitting there with bated breath...

I have posted a picture of my new baby in another sub forum, "things I bought this week". Go and have a shuffty, she's a beaut.
