Well will this area be inundated like the nc 500 now its been awarded special status ??? I hope not . One if the handfull of places left in Scotland where you can be in isolation .

It's a vast expanse of flat blanket peat bogs and interconnecting pools.

I doubt that will appeal to the Facebook crowd and just think of the midges ?

I think you're safe

To avoid visitors they should rename it the Blanket Bog. :)

But very interesting area. I visited decades ago* with my brother to look for Red throated divers nesting, which breed on the tiny lochans. We were successful too and found a pair.

Love to go back but a long drive from Devon.

* So long ago the ice had only just retreated from the last Ice Age.

It was one of my many highlights of ‘ rural ‘ scotland i hope the fear of midges will keep the punters away .

Hardly any roads through it, its just a bog, we have bogs too.

Midge hell
Indeed ... Any midge that is brave enough to bite me dies a miserable & painful death and goes straight to midge-hell, and most midges seem to already be aware of that before committing suicide.

Unfortunately, they tend to find my soulmate much tastier and more edible. :madder:
