In another thread I mentioned that I'd ordered an Alde non-return valve, expecting to get it before the weekend. It was not to be, and this sort of thing really does **** me off...
Hi there,
Thanks for ordering with Southdowns Motorhomes. We have ordered this item from our supplier for you, please allow 2-3 weeks for delivery.

I've just cancelled it and put the old valve in the correct way round and secured it properly!
The heating circuit now works perfectly...

Recently Ive noticed rather more of this ordering shennanigans from companies . Eg I ordered 2 solar panels on amazon actually on their prime day event a few weeks ago.. Pre my pressing the buy now button It clearly stated the delivery date as being 2 days later . Post button click the delivery date changed immediately to "" you will be informed when the items are available for delivery"" . In the event it took 6 days for delivery.

Another recent purchase , this time E Bay. Pre my pressing the buy button , delivery time stated of 3 to 4 working days , reality = 11 days later. Contacted e bay , result = they blamed covid for delay.... That is now getting the blame for everything , rather than companies simply giving p**s poor service.

At least they ordered it for you, I've just been to Toolstation for some consumables (mate washers, super glue etc) just to be told that everything I wanted was out of stock and they were unable to put an order in for them. Usually they re-order stuff and you can choose to have it posted to you, or pick up the next day.
edit: Why does "em eight" washers keeps changing to "mate" every time I type it ?

Just had three fails out of four on eBay purchases. Full refund requested and received. But still means I’ve got to source the bits :swear2:

I ordered something on Amazon Prime day half price. It was sent and they admit it never arrived. I can have a refund or reorder at full price. I’ll have my money back I reckon!

The washing machine on my van suffered multiple faults when a wire from the wife's bra came out. Although only 2 years old but with the real effort getting it out and back in I decided that rather than fix it I would replace it. Spoke with the UK distributor about parts and engineers but all seemed too open to continued hassle. So I said OK I will have a new one and I can do a straight swap and either fix the old one or strip for parts.
Here the saga starts.
We can't supply you a whole machine you will have to go to a dealer. No way would he budge. So I said right get your best dealer to call me. Later I get the call. After agreeing the price he says that's plus £78 delivery, we don't keep stock of these they come direct from the distributor on a pallet to you. Yup the same company I spoke with in the morning who couldn't sell me one coz I was only a pleb punter.
That really pisses me off its an absolute farce, and I wouldn't mind but the first one I bought in Germany for the dealer to fit, so the UK guys get profit for doing absolutely zero in promotion, at least the distributor has stock!

Been there, done that. Now I always order online for immediate pickup at both Toolstation and Screwfix. If it's not in stock you know before ordering.
Another tip, sign up for both as a 'tradesman' (they don't care what trade), you get an ordering number so you don't have to re-enter these each time. You also get a key fob which they can scan instore if you do just go directly in. Two other benefits; lots of Screwfix stores have a section for account holders so you can avoid any queue, PLUS, ones round here have a 'cake day' (or did before Covid), free buns/doughnuts for their tradesmen customers in the secret section only.....😉

That's a lot of mucking about to sort a 2 year old bra out. I'd be popping in to M&S to buy a new one. :giggle:
Then in the afternoon she got a puncture on her bike. No problem I have a kit in the pannier. But what I thought was a pump was a selfie stick. So eventually found a taxi service with a big enough van to take 2 bikes. Then it turned into 2 punctures. So not the best of days yesterday.
