Temporarily leaving pitch

That won't matter as since your current m/home isn't there anyone looking won't know it's not the same m/home. For 15 years I've used a spare number plate that hasn't been the same reg'n number as my current m/home.
To be honest I never used it anyway

If we had to move off a spot on an Aire I would stand on it with dog.
On a campsite in UK probably wouldnโ€™t happen as we would have car with us and only reason van would move is if we had to go out to fill LPG.
We did leave a CL once, completely for the day with both vehicles, left a pallet we had been using, and our No. plate sign, when we got back found it all in the hedge but no one on site anywhere!
Site owner mowing lawn ?

I agree on the basis that not many people in N. Europe could distinguish between lion and leopard poo, but they can probably recognise a lion.
You could paint black stripes on a white horse then noone could park there as it could be a zebra crossing ๐Ÿฆ“

We do that when the sun is down on ours but sunny on other pitches.
That's different to blocking another spot for someone else when there are others already in the queue waiting for one though, moving from one spot to another is something we did on our 2nd day on that aire as when we arrived the only one available was next to the service area and if we'd stayed there much longer it wouldn't have just been the black waste being stuck in the emptying point but it's owner too! ๐Ÿ˜†
I find a couple of road cones and police tape works
Along with the outline of a body! ๐Ÿ˜„

This works ๐Ÿ˜‰

We had an awkward situation a few years back when we stayed at a UK club site. When reporting to reception we were told to take any vacant pitch then, when settled, pop back to reception to let them know the pitch number. When we did that we were told the pitch was already taken. We offered to move even though we were all set up but were told that the previous pitch occupants were at fault for not leaving a pitch marker as required by the campsite rules. They told as to stay put.

Inevitably a MoHo turned up a couple of hours later and a very rude and aggressive woman demanded that we leave the pitch. We told her we had been instructed to stay and that she should go to reception. Eventually, off she went to reception, fuming, and was told by the warden that she had not followed the pitch marker rules so they would find her another pitch.

To be honest, it was all pretty unpleasant and something we'd rather not have had to deal with.

FWIW we always leave a pitch marker with our reg number if we temporarily leave a club pitch. The same if we stay on European campsites but, of course, not aires.

"Crime scene. Do not Cross" tape in an appropriate language perhaps. Trouble is you really need a cop to add authenticity.
Our Sainsbury's used to have one of those realistic cardboard policemen whose eyes seemed to follow you everywhere. Just what you want.
