How sad. Seems that the NIMBYs may be getting their way and the loss will be to the shopkeepers and leisure industry people of the area. Why can't they recognise an opportunity when it arises? At least Barnard Castle was able to benefit from my £200 spend in the town last Tuesday.

I agree but when you have a few idiots treating roads and seaside parades as private camping pitches then it’s only a matter of time that they are moved on.

I wouldn’t want “van lifers” tipping out to elsans and dumping rubbish and lighting fires on pavements () around here neither.
Don’t blame them.
Call me a NIMBY .
Most of this lot take all their food and booze with them and don’t spend in town anyway. Leave the place a Sh!t hole, post it all over YouTube and face arse and never intend to go back.
They’ve spoilt it for genuine people (such as us) that do like to go off grid and are able to go as long as we want like that. That do spend in the local area eating and drinking out and often leave an area cleaner than when we found it. etc.
