If anyone can give advice on these it would be appreciated. Filled the tank with water for the first time this year to clean the tank and pipes. Only to have the tap head blow off and start spurting water everywhere until I turned off the pump and got the pressure down. It doesn't want to stay back on and I don't want to pull the other off to see how it works. Do I need a new tap assembly or is it hopefully a lot more simple. Thanks in advance.

I guess if I can work out the size I might be able to get some form of push in blank until I can find a replacement and get it repaired. Not sure that is going to be a straight forward job if I have to get access to the pipes that feed it.

many many years! since I was a kid
those old comet taps are good when they work. 2 different types of pipes to feed these, 12mm push fit and 1/2" flexible with jubilee clips. To blank the latter, I use a suitable size bolt and tighten the clip
