Just a couple points to be aware of:

Make sure you check your dog’s passport to ensure that all the details are correct and that the vet has stamped and initialled where necessary and that expiry dates are valid for the length of your journey.

A microchip only contains a number, no details of dog or owner. This information is obtained by referring to databases, which are only accessible by certain people and organisations, not by everyone who has a microchip reader. Also, microchip numbers are not country specific so will not appear on another country’s database. There is an International database but access to this is limited and anybody finding a lost dog might not think to check to see if it is a foreign dog. For this reason, it makes sense to have an identification tag on your dog, with a mobile No on. Make sure the number contains the International Dialling Code (+44 forUK). If you are worried that your dog might lose the tag, you can get ones that slide onto the collar instead of being attached to the D ring. You can also get collars that have the number woven into them.
