Hi All,
Anyone on the forum got a Swift Escape 684 17-18 model
The one with the rear twin beds over the garage.?

If I were to buy any swift then it would be a Gold edition of the 684 (double high beds) which is sold by Brownhills in Newark. It's a very nice looking van and at sub £50,000 then it is good value IMO.

The internal build quality wasn't outstanding but it was OK and the internal design was practical and usable.

I didn't care too much for the various different step-levels in the van but I'm sure it wouldn't be a deal stopper.

There was a circular table on the one we saw (at Brownhills), which looked poorly designed and awkwardly placed but I'm sure a new one could be easily knocked-up by anyone with DIY ability.

The height from the bed mattress to the roof is a bit more retricted compared to some over-garage high beds but it's still OK.

The payload was approx 545kg (advertised) at 3.5T but be careful with these special editions as I think the one we looked at, with options, was about 420kg. I would therefore estimate a realtime payload of about 300kg with everything fitted. If you've got a C1 license then take it to 3650kg.

The garage was an impressive size and the underside and rear ground clearance was great too.

Almost forgot; the Swift control panel is a bit temperamental at times and if you get a bug in it then Swift often can't repair it - they just replace it instead. It's a known problem.

All in all a good van for touring.

I know some people have had a few issues with Brownhills but they would do a great deal on your AT620 compared to many other companies out there.

All the best,

Andrew

Thanks Andrew, I think the 684 goes to 3700. I have C1.

Anyone got one?

I think the 684 goes to 3700?

Yes, that sounds good but if you take a look at the internal layout then you'll see that all of the heavy stuff (fridge tower, full kitchen, wardrobes, bed structure and cabinet work) is all over the rear axle.

Back to the big question though: "Has anyone got one"?

I forgot to mention the point that I'm 6'2 and the Swift bed was ideal for me with space to spare.

We had an Autotrail 620 Hi-line prior to the Pilote and the problem with the AT is that I just couldn't fit properly in any of the bed configurations.
