SWC300 - Pre-book sites or just wing it? (1 Viewer)

Hi Everyone
We're planning to visit Scotlands route 300 in early Oct, travelling up from Somerset, doing a Britstop on the way and staying a few nights in Keswick before starting our route (also planning to go east after Scotland to explore Northumberland Coast). We would like to be as spontaneous as possible ( Isn't this what it's all about)? but don't want to get stranded when its time to charge leisure battery and fill with water etc so not sure what to do re campsites. Do we chance it and hope we can get a pitch or plan ahead although this does take out the spontaneous bit? Any advice would be welcomed ☺ Thank you.

The Scotland on is the NCR 500 and Northumberland 250 route covers all the main must see places.
We are going to do the Northumberland one after the Hawick rally. I use search for sites app, brilliant at £6 a year. Never book upfront either out of season.

Presume you mean 300 route and not as Gaston aires says nc 500.?
bare in mind Scottish schools on holiday 2nd and 3rd week Oct.
but to answer i would say fine just to wing it, you will find somewhere..

Get the search for sites app, £6 per year and I find it very useful anywhere in Europe. Pub stops, campsites, Aires, free stopovers. I wouldn’t go touring without it.

Yes def 300 route not 500, doing it in bite sizes for now
