Anyone have one of these? Does it get hot if used for maybe 10 mins at 900watts IE travel hairdryer?

er…….what is it, please…….an inverter??

Grr, bloody autocorrect. Studer, yes it's an inverter. I'll try to edit my original 👍

Don't have one but its rated at 1200 watts continuous so it should be fine, it will need decent batteries and thick connecting cables though.

It's a chunky beast. It comes with pre-attatched cables. I don't intend to use it to anything like it's full potential but I picked it up at a good price. The installation manual says it can run at up to 80 degrees C but I assume that's at full power for an extended period.

I don’t have that one, but had a XTH 48v. At full load the fans are full speed and about 35-36deg C. Anything under full load it should be fairly cool. Another thing high power Studer suffer with, is DC ripple, this is when cables are undersized for its load or to long, or, when batteries can’t sustain a stable voltage under load. If dc ripple is high, the inverter gets hot.
Also consider you have plenty of ventilation, and clear way for the fan to do its job.
How hot does it get?

I haven't fitted it yet. I'm considering various locations depending on how hot it's ACTUALLY likely to get. I suppose I should consider the worst case and go from there.

In that case, you have no worries. I have the multiplus 2kva in the cupboard and take it to 1400w quite few times. The doors have a gap for ventilation air in, and a gap at the back of the shelf above, for air to escape. In summer I open the cupboard doors if we run the induction plate or the oven. At 11-1200w I barely hear the fans.
