Hi, sorry for all the threads I am adding!

i have just noticed a strange panel in the centre of the dashboard, it lifts up directly over the entertainment system.

for the life of me I cannot figure out a use for it and cannot see it in the Fiat manual.

anyone have any idea what it is?

Might need a photo, I can’t really think what you mean, I guess a fiat owner my help

could it be a shade for the screen ?

It’s common throughout the fiat and Peugeot range I use ours for maps and bits of paper

Don’t forget that these are commercial cabs so drivers delivery tickets and similar would normally be there.

Classed as a map holder aint it? Has it got a little clip thing to hold papers in place?

It depends on age of the vehicle. Early ones were a pop up clip board, for paperwork or maps, but on the later vehicles it was a tablet holder.

I swapped my early (clip board) for a later version (iPad holder).

Ahh, map holder, now that makes sense.

might see if I can adapt for my iPad! ?

I fixed an iPad mount on to my clip board, but then swapped as it was better.

This is my first version.

It is actually an iPad/Tablet/map holder in the latest models. I think you press a button on the side and it opens up with adjustable flanges top and bottom to fit whatever you want.

Map holder/ paper work , I use ours for holding the sat nav or the samsung tablet both 7" and 10" .

I cut a piece of perspex the size of a 10" tablet to mount my TomTom Satnav
It does mask the radio when its up

Anyone know how easy it is to swap the standard version out for the iPad version?

The fixed and map holder vesions both have the screw fittings and assume the i-pad version would follow suit.

A couple of the little cardboard or plastic tubes from the centre of a roll of dog poo bags are just the right size to keep it wedged up high enough so it doesn't eclipse the radio, but still allow it be closed.

If you have a media centre (MC), similar to the one Stealaway has, put some tape/padding on the top of the front edge of the MC otherwise when you have the mount flipped up the bottom rear can rub on the MC - this is what has happened to the one in our Carthago which is annoying.
