Got a campsite booked in Falmouth 4/7 thinking of driving half way or so on the 3rd can anyone recommend somewhere we can stop the night In Devon. There are places on Park4night hoping someone has stayed somewhere before that they recommend.

Taunton‘s in Somerset? If you’re coming from London you’ll have to pass Taunton to get to Devon...

We stop at https://www.waterrowpark.co.uk/ lovely site adults only. Great food at the Rock round the corner.

Otherwise theres C&M Exmoor house at Dulverton or Exebridge Lakeside.

Enjoy
I think the problem is the op seems to have booked the first day that sites are open then decided he wants to stop the day before to break the journey unless I've got the dates wrong.

No campsites are open until the 4th, so you will be lucky to find one open on the 3rd !

Looks like a bit of wild camping on the menu😀

Sorry wasn't clear in my original post complete brain fart lol, I want if possible to break the journey and realise no sites will be open on the 3rd I was thinking maybe a parkup for the night off the beaten track or a layby set back somewhere that one of you has used and can recommend.

So west London ? Will you take A303 ? Cartgate Service area on A303 ( Somerset ) good stopover .

This layby off the A38 just short of Plymouth is often used by the odd MH as an overnight stop. It is close to the main road but separated from it by a high earth bank. You need to take the Smithaleigh exit from the A38 just after Lee Mill. It's listed in Park4Night but I don't know how to link to the entry.

there's loads on the A303 I use one past the Warmisnter turnof & after the Esso garage which then enables me to have breakfast in the cafe there.A few miles farther on & about 25 miles from Taunton at the brow of a hill there is another ideal parking spot on the left.

Lee Mill be your best stop. There is a cafe and they ALLOW you to stay over night, I think about £7 pin. Lee mill is well sign posted about 10 miles from Plymouth on the main road between Exeter and Plymouth.

Looks perfect, Thank you

If Cartgate turns out to be no good then I'll carry on down. Thanks

You have all given me places to consider...thank you

Or Smithaleigh lay-by on Plymouth-bound side. Come off A38 signposted Smithaleigh and follow to lay-by.
