@GJH
Whilst not over frequently visited, the car park in the town centre now has height barriers fitted at 2.5 mts.
Parking is allowed on the main street but spots are few.
Geoff.
Thanks. I was in touch with Stroud Council about general parking in July and they made the following extra comment: "It is also worth mentioning that following numerous unauthorised encampments in our car parks and the huge costs incurred in removing them from the land, a decision has been taken to install height restriction barriers at the following locations: Cainscross, Stonehouse, Cheapside, London Road. The commercial rate and allowance will be removed from the Cheapside car park to support this change. While we appreciate that this may inconvenience some users, many other car parks within the Stroud District will have the capacity to accept high vehicles that do not exceed 3.5 tonnes.".
Yet again, councils are left between a rock and a hard place by New Labour's lax legislation and the current government's inability to progress changes because other matters have taken precedence.
