Always learning.
Morning all,the blinds/fly screens are become stiff to operate, due to the vast knowledge on here. I thought someone must have experienced this also,,,so any ideas?

I have a can of ambersil 40 here to I’ll give that a try,,cheers

I forgot to suggest to either spray it onto a cloth and then apply it to the rails, or use one of the fine nozzles (like the one you get with WD40 etc) so you can be precise when spraying the silicone so you don't get it onto the blinds, or windows etc. :giggle:

You can spray the runners/ slide bits but I think you will need to tension the springs👍😉

ptfe spray often available in lidl at about £3 i also use it on the roof vents to make them slide easy

Use a silicone spray like 3 in 1 or similar

spray some into the cap of a can or plastic cup and use a small Soft artist brush to apply👍👍
No over spray!! No mess!! Works on door runners, fly screens, window blinds, and you can get into most of those awkward place.Simples!😊😊

My sliding door roll up blind got stiff and wouldn't roll up properly. I thought retensioning was needed but quick spray of silicone lubricant into the mechanism and all good again. I also do the runners for the cab blinds by spraying silicone onto some kitchen roll and giving the runners a quick lube. (only a wee drop, and wipe off excess to stop it staining the paper blinds).

Silicone spray has a million uses in my PVC, including, heiki creaks, the plastic sliding door catches ( get a bit creaky sometimes causing an annoying noise when driving) and keeping all door rubbers from drying out and deteriorating.

Great advice all,off we go then,,(y)(y)(y)

Silicone spray here, or Mr Sheen, there's plenty around in the air when Sue sets about cleaning the MH !!

Pictures will help us to help you.

I always find that in the warmer months the roller blinds roll better than in the colder months.
Think this is due to the metalised plastic fabric becoming stiffer in the cold than warm.
Try and get the van warm before attempting to roll up the blind.
Always noticeable at the start of the season so I now operate the blinds manually at least once a month in the winter, with the van warmed when not in use and at home, to keep the fabric pliable and the mechanism free.
Funnily enough, the flyscreen fabric does not suffer from the same issue and rolls freely in cold or hot, yet still uses the same mechanism as the blackout blind fabric.
Worth a try 😊

Is the tensioning a job I could do?

I use Silicone spray on all rails runners and also on the toilet cassette blade which keeps it supple and prevents leak through.

Yes 👍Do a search on my posts on here ( a long time ago ) if not you tube😉 If you get stuck ask me again but it takes quite a long bit of typing/ explaining......😉
