the step on my ci motorhome isnt retarting when you turn the engine on there power going through the fuse for the step when the engine is running but it wont retract

it works fine with the switch

anyone have any ideas?

the D+ feed from the alternator will have a separate fuse to power the step relay in

this is what the fuse box and a small part for the step looks like if its any help

Maybe a loose wire?

Had same problem with my CI motorhome 18 months ago. Stripped step down 4 nut and bolts, greased bushes and bolts reassembled and fitted nylock nuts. Do not overtighten, just nip up. Jobs a good un.

there is most probably a switch which is operated by the step when it closes... the relay coil that operates the closing of the step when the engine is running is earthed via that switch, and that switch is most probably stuck and needs a clean up..

Usually the micro switch at the step, water and crud gets into it,
Try and seal the connections with some under seal to stop repeat failure,

its usually close to the motor but not part of it, and usually well covered and operated by one of the step link bars as it swings up into the closed position if its a conventional step. if its a slide out then the switch is inside the step casing...
