So the MH's starter battery is flat.

I'm not going to comment on how a perfectly good battery became flat while parked up on EHU as she will only deny it.

While on EHU on the drive the starter battery dent get charged by the onboard charger unit (Auto-sleeper, Buford- Duo)

Just to make matter worse my battery charger has given up the ghost (never rains....)

So I opened the in cab floor battery compartment (mere sprinter) and theres enough room in there foe a cute charger, therefore I'm thinking of mounting said charger in the battery compartment and wiring it up the the battery terminals, then splicing the mains lead into the MH mains circuit, so when on EHU the Ctek charger looks after the starter battery automatically.

Other than heat considerations this should work (even with the cab radio and cab interior lights left on, bugger said it)

Is there a better option such as connecting the starter battery to the existing on board charger that looks after the habitation battery?

At least I didn't mention it was left unlocked on the drive for weeks

Do you already have solar panels to keep the leisure battery up to scratch when on a site with no electric hook-up? If so, you may be able to extend that to also keep the vehicle battery up to scratch, as mine do.

If not, perhaps that is something to consider for the future??

I am not at all sure why, but the idea of having a mains connected device squeezed into the battery compartment somehow disturbs me! Perhaps it’s the thought of 240v devices, potentially surrounded by hydrogen from the battery charging, in a confined space - doesn’t sound like a great idea. Perhaps it would be better to install the charger somewhere else, and just run 12v to the battery via the control panel or fuse box?

Your right, the `Ctek under a bench and run 12v cables only to the battery sounds better

Battery Master sounds easier? Think that's what they are called. Takes surplus from leisure to engine battery
