Any one else down at St Ives for the New Year festivities.

We are at the Rugby club and it looks like a rally with all the Moho here ?

Ooher, is it a rally? We go in summer and love it. Supposed to be a fab new year! Enjoy

is the bus taking peeps up and down the bloody big hill?

It’s not a rally but loads of Moho’s ?

Yes bus was running earlier but we walk it to burn off the pasties and clotted cream ?

Happy New year for latter ??

I am so envious- I was there a couple of years ago. There was the most amazing samba band leading the fancy-dress parade around the streets of the town.
I stayed at Ayr Park campsite at the top of the hill but not cheap at £40 a night!

Thats why we are at the Rugby club.
Also I couldn’t get in ??

Will be off down in a bit for fish and chips then have a wander ready for the fireworks later ?

Fly your plane down we’ve room in the Moho ?

Hi

Yes it’s been great, really surprised at the amount of fireworks they had here.
Also the amount of people here.

It’s strange, been a good few years since we’ve been down here and although it’s changed it hasn’t ?

We stayed at the Ayr site twice a year for 12 years, one of those places were you could book the same pitch for next year, as you say it's not cheap, we watched the site being modernised and improved to a very high standard.
Then the manager Chris sadly died of cancer and the place just fell apart, the owner spending all his cash on buying and converting the houses and hotel above the site.
We now stay on Polmanter a little further out and obviously doesn't enjoy those spectacular views but is kept immaculate and has a pool for a cheaper price per pitch.

Silver-Fox Glad you have enjoyed it, i think it has earned itself a reputation for being party central on NYE, i like the idea of going , we have never been though as it might be a bit tooooo peoply for us ! ?
?

?

It’s reasonably easy to skirt around the throng if you want to ?

We were a bit surprised how polite the younger crowd were.
Say 15 to 19 all apologising if the bumped into you or walked in front of you.
I do hope they were locals with old fashioned values ?

That sounds more tempting! I too hope the polite brigade were locals although i will take polite and thoughtful from anyone, Sounds like a really good evening though and may give it a go - one day! ?

Isn't there a story behind this that you have hinted at previously?
Or am I mistaken?

St Ives Rugby Club is a great for visiting St Ives at New Year, they were charging £15 this year for a motorhome (£6 car). Plenty of space so easy to find a quietish spot, away from the main car parking area. Almost all on grass, but despite loads of rain in November/December I didn’t see anybody struggling. There’s even a couple of unisex toilets & showers in the club house, but close at 8pm.

Another site I like at St Ives is Hellesveor Holidays, a small, quiet site on the outskirts with hardstandings - about 20mins walk into St Ives or longer via spectacular coastal path route.

If you’re in the area at that time of the year be sure to visit Mousehole for the harbour lights - magical, but parking is a nightmare, definitely not MH friendly!

Mevagissey has a very lively NYE party as well with overnight MH parking in the Willow Car Park, about £8 I think.

If you are lucky and don't mind a little bit of a walk there is some parking - like a longish layby really along the road towards mousehole that would be ok if there was a space, certainly wouldn't want to drive a Moho through Mousehole !!
Angarrack just outside Hayle is lovely for lights too, i think you can park outside and walk is as thasts a bit of a Moho nightmare with all the people too.

Yep still £15 for overnighting.

Finding a quiet spot a little more of a struggle ?

(y) Thats it- nice to see a photo- not been there this year!

We stayed on a campsite at the top of the hill a couple of years ago, can’t remember the name but it was in the ACCI book £15.00 if I remember right. Swimming pool there as well.

Given the number of hills around St Ives that doesn’t narrow it down much ?
