Spring into summer in Spain

Weather for next weekend...this is September...
Touring restrictions...we will stay put on the Galicia coast again..
Would be nice to head home slowly doing numerous stops over the next two weeks...however it's no fun overnighting in a campervan in those temperatures..
Galicia will have to host us for a little longer..only 22°c here..good for cycling and MH life...
Don't want to get back to Murcia whilst the temperature is high either, I've got MH jobs to do...and other domestic duties...😄👍🇪🇦

We managed a reasonable ride yesterday but the photos came out almost sepia. It was dull and my camera battery was flashing red so I don't know if that had anything to do with the colour or not.

We rode to the cathedral in Tui. A rope across the entrance prevented entry apart from the first few metres.

The only real colour came from these fungi.

We spoke to our Brit neighbour, a full timer in Spain. He used to be a farrier. How unusual is that. He's hoping to move to Australia to join his daughter and family and go on the road there. Good luck to him.

The fiesta last night was strange. Lots of loudspeaker talking and very little music. I think, from the only info I could find, it might have been three separate masses and local bands.

We left our parking at Tomiño and headed back to the coast. After a misty morning the sun began to break through. We were heading first to Mercadona and Decathlon at Nigrán. We desperately needed some new cycle shorts, mine were almost see through. There wasn't a huge choice but we've got a pair each and will be sporting them today.

We then drove to the coast at Nigrán and a beach parking that, even through signs all around say mo motorhomes, there is one section that's allowed between two blue signs. One motorhome is parked out of the area but no-ones been to check. Its very, very quiet here now so maybe the rules have been relaxed.

We walked along the beach to our left

And looked back to the north.

We're starting our ride around that headland.

This appears to be a private house or rental. There's no info on Google about it.

It's a lovely place now, you would see us here in July or August though, in fact it would be difficult to get a space then, I imagine.

We sat near the parking on a very well positioned bench to watch the sun go down.

Not a bad place to be trapped for a few days to keep out of the newly fired up oven.

The camperstop has 4 official places, only 2 occupied, the rest of us are in the carpark next to it

The parking area is huge with lots of motorhomes, mainly Spanish registered parked next to the official 5 spaces.
Was like that a when we were there a few years ago. Good to know they still allow it.
Nice little village.
had to resort to reading a Kindle book that I started in April when the lights went out all over Spain. Will I ever finish it?
I get through 2 to 3 books a week on my Kindle. 😕
Why do folk Party all night then sleep the following day.
Because they are Spanish, you have lived there long enough. 🤣

In our tugging days got back to the site at 1:30am went for a shower then to the site disco with two teenage daughters in tow. Got back to the van at 4am.🤣

Yesterday's ride up to some gun emplacements (not as dramatic as Mazarron) and the monument on top of Monteferro, the headland to the north of Nigrán. Bit of very good graffiti on one of the old buildings.

Today we moved back to the parking near Baiona and we rode up into the hills from here.

Our time in Galicia is nearing completion, the weather in Iberia is changing that allows us to break from our self imposed confinement ,
I'd like to say we got it right, remaining in Spain during this record breaking extended summer, but planning well to avoid the intense heat.
And what a place to spend the greatest part of our year, it's no compromise being here, we both love Galicia...it's so much us, locations and places to visit both by MH and bikes...and no serious overcrowding, far more MHs but nothing like the Med Costas in Winter..
We now have to plan our route back to Murcia, take a while to get back, and when back, we have our admin tasks to complete, fit a compressor fridge to replace our dead 3 Way and some other bits and pieces...
When all of these tasks are done to ours and everyones satisfactions, we should be off again...visiting our much loved Autumn and Winter locations.. 🇪🇦🚴🚴☀️

Yesterday, on our ride, we passed through an area of petroglyphs. Even with information boards it's not easy to spot the carvings on some of the rocks.

We then continued through a lovely area of hamlets, modern, newly built houses, part of Baiona and then the Virxe da Rocha that's been looking over us. We just made the opening time before it closed at 2.00 and reopens at 4.00. It was €2 to climb up inside so I dug deep into my rucsac and found two €1 coins lurking in the depths. I didn't want to have to pay with a €50 note and I don't think the ticket guy would have appreciated it either. The stairway was very narrow, no room to pass anyone coming down, luckily I didn't meet anyone, and the platform next to the Virgen's face was only big enough for two.

Back at the van and we have another Brit neighbour. We'll be leaving today and, maybe, even leaving Galicia (or maybe not just yet but we'll be inland).

We're now 7km north of Puebla de Sanabria, next to a river at a, closed, chiringuito. We've stayed here before and we came because it has shady trees a d the temperatures today are higher than we've been used to. They are forecast to drop from tomorrow so we may go down to the town and park on the CCP site there.

We are further under the trees than it looks on the photo.

It seems a steady arrival of vans has been taking place over the last few hours. It'll be interesting to see how popular it is in the morning.

We've driven the intense heat away as we drove south east, it was warm when we arrived, but like Judith said our tree canopy provided all the shade we needed.
Fairly quiet after the adjacent vans canines stopped having a disagreement on who territory this was, which also caused the owners of the canines to have a lengthy chat..
Expecting some rain later, this will give us chance to plan ahead and come up with a route...🇪🇦🚴🚴☔

We're now Billy no Mates on the CCP area. We've had a walk around the town, bought three bottles of wine from a tiny, local pastry shop, suffered 20 drops of rain and are now about to eat lunch in the van whilst Martin watches the first of two football matches today.

Photos will be incoming when I get them off the camera.

We walked the Riverside path from the parking area. No green grass here, just a few hours from where we'd been watching a new flush of growth in Galicia.

At the main road we called into the church of the Convento Crucero de San Francisco
IMG_6282.webp

Love the colours.

It's the building in the centre of this photo taken from near the castle.
IMG_6289.webp

But first, I issued a challenge to walk up the steps without stopping.
IMG_6283.webp

We did it.

But we timed the castle totally wrong. This group were just entering.

We didn't have the required orange neckerchief.

So instead we went back down the easier on the knees route, passing this colourful restaurant.

And even the back

A call into the pastry shop to buy the wine through some of these types of streets.

A different, but nice day.

We've now been joined by Wanders from Glos and one of two other.MHs..😀

The Cold front passed without any noticeable rain, this has completely changed the temperature range in this part of Spain.
We have now been given our change to progress into the interior and continue to enjoy this trip.
Our plan is to travel this morning to Bejar and use this area as a base for a few days before deciding our next move.
I'm looking forward to riding in different areas although we have passed through these areas on the Via del.la Plata , a very memorable route from Seville to Santiago..🚴🚴😎

We are holding out on the heating, but it’s definitely. It was 25 yesterday morning 😂
Suns up now...☀️But never going to be a scorcher today..
When you leave here and drive to your intended destination, you cannot help but notice one of the many Wildfire damaged areas...even a 4/6 lane motorway couldn't halt it's progress..

As a Digi Mobile customer in Spain, I imagined I could get a decent roaming allowance whilst in Portugal...WRONG.

As a Vodafone customer in Spain I imagined the same as above.. WRONG.

We got reduced speed then nothing last night or this morning..

We lost contact with the outside world and more importantly I use a web based product to plan bike routes and upload them to my Bike Garmin...Today not possible.... basically as I am a experienced navigator, today's ride was completed with a few mishaps, but the basic rules were to keep the sea on the right...I said basic..
The return route followed the marked Camino Portuguese, equally shared with lots of walkers...

We are back in Spain now...because, no internet means no contact, no navigation, weather, planning, P4N, or Footie....all in all we have so much dependency on having a good Data signal...

I've been fed adequately and can now catch up on what has, or could have happened in the world that we live in.
🇪🇦🥴
My Movistar SIM worked fine in Portugal (Algarve area) for a week last year but seemed to be severely throttled during our recent visit to England and wouldn't let me change provider 🙄. Not much point having a 58gb roaming allowance if it hardly works 😤

Isn't flexibility good....we were heading to Bejar this morning...pulled over for a comfort break...checked P4N and changed course...now at Venialbo a huge Camperstop on grass...EHU if wanted for 3€. Pay at Town hall or use Honesty box at same location..Biking looks good..🤔🚴🚴🇪🇦
