Dose anyone know where the split charge relay and the e m c relay is located on a Mercedes autotrail Cheyenne 635, 2001 reg? I’ve found a couple of relays close to the starter battery but they are just 4 pin make brake relays.

any help appreciated 👍

I'm not familiar with the Autotrail Cheyenne, but there is usually a distribution/fusebox for the 12V habitation circuits, and the relays are usually built into that. However those 4-pin make/break relays you mention could be used for the split charge relay or the EMC (habitation cutoff relay). Although one of them could be a fridge relay.

Is there a distribution/fusebox,and if so what make/model?

Can’t see a separate Hab fuse box, I’ve had sprinter vans before, this Cheyenne is built on the sprinter 313 chassis, only fuse boxes I can find are the same as on the sprinter vans, one under the steering wheel, and one underneath the driver’s seat and they correspond with the heynes manual I have with regards to standard wiring, it’s a zig control panel (not digital) with standard on off switches, so I little baffled I’ve looked everywhere but can’t see anything obvious, hence asking on here if anyone has the same van or had one in the past, thanks for your info though.

Yorkshireimp In the Resources section (top line on this page) in Motorhome technical articles on page 4 there is a wiring diagram for 2003 Autotrails and although it is for a early Sargent electrical system , not Zig , it shows the relays + fuses and their function (split charge + fridge) that autorouter has mentioned and may be some help.

Thanks Geoff I have a wiring diagram for a 2000 reg autotrail and understand it, all I would like to know is the physical location of where the relays are to check them, if all else fails I suppose I will have to upgrade the controller put a new split charger in and do a re-wire. mitzimad I don’t have any buttons above my switches, I will post a picture when I get time thanks all the same.

It's a bit of a long shot, but if you have the wiring diagram you could find the D+ feed to the relay coils, and connect/disconnect it to +12V somewhere. Then you might be able to hear the relays clicking. Obviously starting the engine will do the same, but the engine noise drowns the relay clicking.

I do not have any other information regarding your type of Motorhome but Motorhomes of your era normally had the split charge and fridge relays near the starter battery and maybe it could be worth another look at the two relays , and their wiring colours, that you found near your Starter battery. If they are not shown in the Merc wiring for the base van then I would expect them to have been fitted by Autotrail when the Motorhome was built.
