changing a load of things again
well after reading some of the posts on here we have decided to go to Spain for 15-20 days early Nov. I have taken the Autotrail around the UK but now fancy trying Europe. I would like to use the ferry and have too many choices, from Plymouth 20ish hrs and Portsmouth 23ish hrs. also which is the better Santander and Bilbao? Happy to travel every couple of days or stay if we like. We like to use our electric bikes a bit. Happy with either costal or inland. Grateful for any and all suggestions / recommendations.

Also what is a voucher for the ferry and how do i acquire one?

Billy

Where are you travelling from? We’ve mainly used Plymouth to Santander, as that makes Spain only 110 roads miles from our house. (y)

I thought the Portsmouth route was about 30 hours, but we’ve never travelled from there to Spain.

Lots of people will be happy to offer you a code. ;)

Regarding bike usage....we have just done our annual summer trip to the NW of Spain...can be a bit different in November though...
Where to ride? Depends what you like, how far each ride...hard stuff or easy trails...
Download Wikiloc app...
Search with it from your current or proposed location....download your ride and follow the directions...it's all so easy....well easier than I made it sound...

Plymouth route finishes for the winter at the end of October. We are on the last one back on the 31st!

The last Plymouth-Santander is 2nd November. 3rd for Santander - Plymouth. It’s cheaper than the Portsmouth - Spain routes and shorter. The latter are usually 2 night, 32 hour crossings too.

Let me know if you need any help, I will be on the 23rd, October Sunday to Santander from Plymouth

Lovely, man that’s a really nice resto !! G5??? that moped I bought was an SS50 , think the Chopper Mk 1 would be worth more these days . Loved the CB’s , really nice resto on your 250 , older mate had the CB 360 took me out pillion to the bike shops on a Saturday that’s what got me hooked , moved on to an RD250 then a CB400 /4 , then a Z900 Kawa that I still ride today 😀. Got a RD250 currently in resto to re live 1977😉

Take some warm clothes, we came back from Cadiz at the end of October a few years ago and it went from mid 20C on the beach, -2C at night in Cordoba, Zero C all day in Aranjuez (good for Royal Palaces and train to Madrid), north of Madrid it was snowing on the Motorway and we just made it to Burgos. We only had one warm coat and one pair of long trousers between us, guess who got them🤣

Madrid is over 2000 feet above sea level on Spain's central high plain. Can be bitterly cold in winter. October should be ok, although a bit chilly at night.

Woke to 5°c here in the Region of Burgos this morning...going to rise to 25° by mid afternoon. just use this as a guide to temperature difference and it's still late summer/early autumn...

One October month can be 20c at night around Haro. Another could be 2c. Very changeable
