Looking to set up camp in southern Spain for a couple of weeks in early November, driving down from santander. First time we've done this, normally prefer moving on, but wanted to enjoy some winter sun!

Advice sought from others who've done this about the sort of weather to be expected, and any campsite recommendations. We'd like to be near or on the coast, with public transport links, not desperately quiet, but equally not wall to wall karaoke! TIA.

Benidorm fits the bill in winter, covid aside every where that can is open. Normally weather is pretty decent and a lot warmer than the UK. This winter has seen a good run of frosts but by midmorning you can usually sunbathe. Also like the UK it depends where the wind is blowing from. Be prepared for it being cold on a night and warm during the day, but bear in mind the weather will do what it wants, its one of the few things the polititions cannot cock up or control

Cliff and Gerri'sBroken Link Removed may shed some light on the matter.

ACSI site, Los Madriles at Mazarron is a very nice site, that bit further south and it has a geo thermally heated indoor and outdoor pool if this is the sort of thing you like, very hot water 😊

Los Madriles - ticked all the boxes until I realised its a Fido-free zone... 🙁

I didn’t realise that, even having stayed there twice, what a shame for you it is a lovely site albeit one of the two owning brothers can be a bit firm with his rules

It's all a matter of taste, I thought Benidorm was horrific. Skyscraper blocks of flats and Blackpool on steroids. IMHO you can do a lot better in a less commercialised location.

There's plenty of quality sites offering sun and relaxed atmosphere without the "all day breakfast" and "happy hour" booze options of more commercial resorts.

We have been snowbirds for 17 years and tried many options. Careful research will pay dividends.

Could you name a few from experience?

We have been traveling round Spain for last three weeks been on some lovely sites all full but not a lot open outside them moving to Benidorm tomorrow can’t wait, and no not for an all you can eat English breakfast but a bit of live. Benidorm has a lot to offer don’t write it off you might gust like it.
