Smev 401. 401s Cooker Hobb and Grill.

I know it’s an old cooker. Fitted. 2003.

But the ignition is not lighting the gas. There is a spark but seems weak. Eventually I may get one ring lit.
is there anything I can try before I have to replace the ignition unit. That’s I can find one in stock.

Ours isn’t brilliant,sometimes it works well,other times not. We use one of those clicky gas lighter thingys that you can by for a couple of quid and lasts forever .

Ave you tried taking the burner caps off and cleaning the igniter probes

No it’s the same just seems like the spark is very weak.

Yes did that and made no difference. Even tried a new refilled gas bottle in case it was low gas pressure.

Do you know for sure that it runs from the 12v system as our caravan stove igniter ran off a 9v battery.

It does work on 12 volts .
thought that. And turned off the battery to the home part and got nothing .

It could be just misaligned or worn or covered in grease.
Move it closer to what ever it sparks onto and give it a clean

Is the ceramic around the igniter intact as on one of ours isn’t is so have to use clicky thing other 2 are fine
