Hi All , thinking of late spring next year and a possible 7/8 week EU tour with approx. 4 weeks in the Balkans. We have been in the EU several times but not this far.
  • If we spend 4 of these weeks in the Balkans is this enough to leisurely tour the Balkan. I don't like racing around so is this too ambitious?
  • What’s not too miss while we are there? Ideas of main areas of interest?
  • Route suggestions in and around the area appreciated?
  • Recommended Sites/Aires would be helpful?
All contributions gratefully received. Thank you for your help in advance.

Much larger area than you think and although I've not visited Bosnia, Croatia and Slovenia are beautiful . The coastal scenery in Croatia especially so. As far as I'm aware "wild" camping is not allowed in any of the 3 countries but there are plenty sites. I can thoroughly recommend the Plitvice Falls, Croatia, plenty dedicated motorhome parking, get there early and catch the free bus to the top and walk down, much quieter than the bottom section where it gets busy early on and definitely easier on the legs.

I lived and worked in Bosnia for a year in 2003/4 it’s a big country and some of the roads left abit to be desired. To give you an idea of size to drive from Bijeljina on the Serbian Croatian border to Sarajevo is about 5 hours in a car, longer in a motorhome. Sarajevo to neum on the Adriatic coast via Tuzla and Mostar is about 6 hours by car. If you go off piste and up into the mountains and visit places like zvornik baratunacs and zrebrenica it’ll be tricky in motorhome but doable.
