Lots but slow learner.
Going to Skye on Wednesday.
Staying on Kinloch Campsite, Dunvegan.
Anyone stayed on there? Anygood?
Stayed in K.O.L for a long time when working on Ninian Central Oil rig in Loch Kishorn but never set foot on Skye.
It's a tick on the list.

When I was on Skye last month I thought about it when looking for a stop that night, then I saw the reviews on search for sites and decided against.

lovely site there was a lady who owned it but she sold up.lovely stop

Not stayed on the site but catch a little boat trip from Dunvegan castle out to see the seals. Great wee trip thats VFM. (y)

Are you talking about Skye generally or Kinloch Campsite Dunvegan?? The reason i ask is i dont' see Kinloch Campsite on SFS.

Lasttime we went we parked up in the car park just the other side of the bridge and toured each day returning each night for three nights. Asked at the cafe nearby if it was OK they said yes.

Personally I think Skye is very much over rated, they don't seem very welcoming to motorhomes especially nowadays. Much better to go to The Western Isles, it beats Skye hands down on all fronts. excluding the costly calmac fare but the scenery makes up for it.

Long drive up there. One night on the island. Bit of a tour the next day. Off the Island towards a another place.
Tick.

We stayed there in May. There are some very nice pitches there but are allocated on the first booking gets the best pitch and latest not so good. I booked about a month ahead and got a reasonable one, the best ones were probably booked last year or very early this year.
Can recommend the Old School restaurant for a nice meal a short walk from the site (good food but not cheap). You normally need to book to get a table.

We stayed there 3 nights at couple weeks ago. it’s a nice site and we had a good pitch no.39 so we’re looking across the water.

I'm looking forward to it.
Going up by myself so i can put that tick on the list. For the sake of one night not too bothered about the pitch location. I'll have walkabout's when i get there, a tour the following day to take pics to put on here to bore ya'll:LOL::cool:
Then take pot luck where to stay when i get back on the mainland.
Are the midges around this time of year?

There’s a fish & chip van at the entrance to the site. The locals use it too. Hopefully you will see the seal with it’s pup that were swimming and playing in the water nearby.

If you get the chance, go to Neist Point. Views are stunning. We went in the evening so it wasn’t too busy. Single track road in places.

Forgot to mention, fuel at Broadford, Sky was £1.94.9. There is a small filling station in Glen Shiel and it was charging £2.34 😱.

We stayed a few years ago.Lovely location looking down the loch. Unfortunately we had a hiccup when we arrived. The pitch we were booked on was already occupied. We phoned the number at reception to be told there was no one available until the morning and find a free pitch.
The site warden was very helpful when the arrived. The people on our pitch decided to stay an extra night without telling the warden.
Things may have changed now but it was a bit concerning that the warden was only available next day. I assume in an emergency the response would be quicker.

Auchtertyre Farm Motorhome Aire just 10 mins before the bridge is a nice little place to stop. http://www.overnightparking.co.uk/
We stayed a few nights a couple of years ago. Jim asked us to take some pics and report back on the site, I think (but don't quote me) it was sort of becoming an MH fun CL. But dunno if it made it.

Kinloch is fabulous, especially if you get a Loch facing spot. Dunvegan Castle a must, grounds better than the building; there is a forest walk there and back. You must pop in to the Giant Angus MacAskill museum :giggle:

The black sands at Orbost are interesting but it's a hike, bike or 4x4 to get there; interesting bird life if you are lucky.

I'm with irnbru on this one..Skye much over rated IMO. God you don't even need to get a ferry anymore (yes I know you can still get one from Mallaig) before anyone corrects me.
