Skye - Portree parking (3 Viewers)

A bit of disappointing news. There used to be free overnighting in Bayfield Car Park in the centre of Portree but no more.
The long-stay parking area now has 4 mh bays in the old overnighting spot, but they're limited to 4 hours. The main parking area has been revamped and has 8 mh areas where you can park for up to 12 hours (chargeable) but not between either 8pm or 10pm (depending on which notice you believe) and 8am.
There has been talk of a CDP but no sign of it yet.

That’s very disappointing as we were hoping to use this later this year. The idea was a curry and a few beers before going to Uig for the ferry in the morning. Oh well we’ll spend our money elsewhere.

glenn2926 the Torvaig Campsite's about a mile & a half, if that's walkable for you. It's not cheap but it's lovely and if it fills a need.....?

Yes that's the one Sandra. It's been down to a few dedicated spaces for a few years but no time limits and overnight was tolerated; not now. The car park section was free but it's now charged, including local workers.
