Thinking of taking the Stenna day crossing Harwich to Hook of Holland in September arriving at 5.15. Plus customs etc. Can you overnight at the port or is there aires/ nearby sites anyone could recommend? Thanks

Delft Hout, Gouda or actually on the Hook are campsites and an aire which looks out onto the port You can see it as you go into the port for docking on your port side going in depends on what you want and what you want to spend, Delft is about 30 euros a night, Gouda at Park Amerika is 8 euros a night but its first come first served and there are plans to close the aire/carpark to motorhomes in early 2025 About 30 euros a night on camping Hoek Van Holland but less if you have an asci card and no idea how much for the aire by the port None are more than a 25 min drive from the port

Delftsehout

It's walking distance to the historic centre of Delft, where you can easily waste a couple of days.
It's very well equipped.
It's 20 mins to the port at Hoek van Holland

Personally we always take the night ferries and you get a nice cabin.
(The cost is not that different to the day ferries, but you spend less on shipboard food!)

It means on the way in you arrive early and can be in Germany in time for Brunch.
The the way home we aim for Delftsehout for one night, spend the day in Delft and then get the ferry in the evening and arrive in time to be home before lunch.

There is a nice site on the beach 15 mins away from ferry I think it if strandpark vlutenburg probably not spelt quite right

Camperplaats Verpont at Maassluis a few kms away. We stopped there after arriving and before leaving on return. Stopped for free. There may be another at Maassluis also-Camperplaats Haven.

What is your target destination?

Heading NE I stop at Gouda: nice aire, nice town
Heading East I stop at Gorinchem in the marina: a bit noisy from the Rhine barges but interesting.
Heading south I like Breda: a quiet night beside the river on a cobbled street.

PLENTY of choices!

Thanks for all your replies. Probably heading East, final destination is Croatia but by an indirect route. Management is making Rudescheim coffee and Black Forest noises.
