Hi,
Just wondering if anyone is booked into the Dadford Road campsite for the F1 racing at Silverstone?

Been to lot's of F1s around the world. Been to Scamastone twice many many years ago, vowed i would never go again and i ain't.
BUT, 100s of thousands go so i must be the odd one out.
Enjoy it if you go.

Well having never been to an F1 race I'm really looking forward to it.
I remember going to the Millennium Dome exhibition and loved it when all the London show critics slammed it, I think if you do these things too much you lose the essence of why you are there and are always expecting more.
The Millennium Dome exhibition turned out to be the most successful exhibition in the country!
As it happens... this Scamastone trip is a 60th Birthday present, so I am sure my wife and I will enjoy it!

If you are an F1 fan you will love the Silverstone weekend and don't forget this year they are having the qualifying on Friday and an additional sprint race on Saturday and the main race as usual on Sunday.

Only ever went to Silverstone For The Mini's 50th birthday celebration,2007, took our Mini Cooper S, had a great time, walking round the pits, seeing the various teams was great, dont think that would be allowed at F1 unless you are a celeb.
I even met Paddy Hopkirk, my mini idol as a kid, lovely chap, here he is.

I've always been an F1 fan and our aim was to go to the Monaco grand prix for our wedding anniversary, but I think those plans have now been scuppered!
Forgot about the Saturday Sprint race... (y)

Forget Monaco it is a dull race, try Monza or Canada, spa is fun if you are fit and have your own toilet.

Well we have a past experience with Monaco and friends who live there, fancied the drive down...

Just looked at the prices 😮😳😳😳😳😳

I live 20 miles away and have never been. I was looking at either Monza or Barcelona- you can pretty much get flights, hotel and entry at these races
for the same cost of just the entry to Silverstone. I have aleays fancied going to spa as well- Silverstone is well down on my bucket list

Silverstone pay about £20m to host the event. Then all their overheads.

Maybe the prices aren't excessive?

The Silverstone classic is a good weekend. Not as expensive as F1 and you can walk around the pits.

Those prices are for the whole weekend.
Plus Camping costs, which for us are £160 for 4 nights inclusive of EHU.
It's a once in a lifetime thing for us... or maybe we will get the bug and join a trip to SPA!

I worked at beckets for the mbgp two years ago and i could see all the motorhomes coming in to camp for weekend ,i was dead jealous cos the atmosphere was great 👍

Last time I went was when our Nigel won the championship what a great day out but it didn’t cost £200😊

Shameless plug for a £300 Silverstone Voucher I have for sale in the classifieds, could be a good saving for someone

Forget going to Monaco in a Motorhome. You will be met with signs at the border "Keep going - No stopping!)
Been to Siverstone twice for the F1 weekend in the 'van. Great fun, loads of atmosphere, but EHU is expensive so decent Solar is required to keep the beer cool. Club is best view.

I would go to Silverstone for that as i am a classic car owner and fan....................................as i am F1 but not to Silverstone.

Looks like I am the only Funster going to the Dadford Road site then.
Ah well, beer and racing, I'm sure I will manage!

I'm going on a charabanc daytrip with the local village theatre & tour group... should be a good day out & ticks a bucket list box...

I always enjoy visits to Silverstone.
I've done a couple of Renault World Series events, an F1 testing day, etc. and at least one F1 weekend.
For my 40th birthday mrskevenh took me to the 2006 event as a treat. We had Woodcote Grandstand seats. The best views you can have  . The year we went, that ticket class gave us roaming access to all other stands for Friday & Saturday and our own seat for Sunday.
Saturday we did a lap of Silverstone via the stands and track side grass banks. It was great. I also had a scanner to listen to team radio. That was less good, as then (if not now) most F1 teams encrypted their comms. GP2 & Porsches didn't encrypt, iirc
Lewis won the GP2 race, Jenson parked his smoking Honda at Woodcote

For my 50th we went to Hungaroring, Budapest. That was also a brilliant experience.

Both of my birthday treats were packages so coach in & out to the track in special lanes plus hotel for two nights (Silverstone def, Budapest maybe 3 nights  )

A high level summary of the two is that Silverstone is about the most expensive F1 weekend on the calendar.
But it is our local one. Apart from always selling well at those prices, I do not know why it is so pricey. Could just be due to hosting charges. 🤷‍♂️

I've been to Spa during an F1 event but that was work related and I didn't see the race. Might of been a just a work trip in and out of the track on a Thursday.
I've also seen F1 testing at Estoril. I miss that track not being on the calendar :(
Brands Hatch is quite good for spectators. The short track is in a bowl so most of it is visible.

tl;dr Silverstone IS brill, do go once. Err! If you've a key birthday coming up, get in touch with mrskevenh
The campsites always look lively, but I can't vouch for that.
