Hi can you tell me the problem just fitted side markers to a 20reg Fiat ducato van conversion pickup power from rear lights when turn on they come on for 5 seconds and go out turn lights off and on the same happens start up they come on and go out but side lights stay on any help will be great thanks Andy

Probably a canbus thing and I don't understand them so can't help, sorry.
You might need a auto electrician who understands them ?

Side markers normally come on with the lights when the engine is running and are controlled through the Body Control Module (BCM).
It may be possible to fit after market marker lights using a module of some type (like the ones fitted when tow bars are fitted) but as has been pointed out you may need an Auto electrician to advise you.

Hi, did you pick up power from each side or are all markers supplied from one side ? They might be cutting out through overload issue?

The lights are a protected circuit and the added current to run the extra lights is sensed and the BCU shuts the circuit down to protect the wiring. The solution is to take a direct feed from the battery/alternator and switch this through a relay triggered by the light circuit. The same principle with towbar wiring using a bypass relay

Hmm 🤔

This happens when you buy your lights and bulbs from the lighthouse company 😇🙄😀😀

Hi they are powered from each rear lights thanks for your commitments o

With modern vehicle electrics I think the days are gone when you could just tap in and take a feed to something else.

I would think about taking a live feed via a fuse from the battery. Then using a relay triggered by a tail light to take the battery power to your side markers. Done this a few times on canbus motorbikes to add power sockets.
