In France at the moment and have found a small leak from my water pump. Noticed last night that pump fired up every couple of hours to keep pressure up so assumed there must be a small leak somewhere. Checked this morning and damp patch under van. Took cushions etc off sofa to expose pump area. See it’s damp. When pump runs there is a small leak coming from where the black plastic housing attaches to the metal pump body. I have tightened the 4 screws that affix plastic bit to the pump but still leaking a bit. If I undo the screws and separate the two parts can I apply some form of sealant to the join and then re-screw the plastic bit back on? If so, what sort of sealant should I use? What type of place in France might sell such stuff. If I have to leave it I don’t think it’s the end of the world, I’ve stuffed a spare towel around the leaking area and will only turn the pump on when I want to use taps/shower. Any advice would be appreciated.

Had a similar problem with ours recently it was recommended on here by someone to take apart clean and reassemble smearing vaseline on the mating surfaces early days yet but seems ok

Usually the leak will be between the two halves of the black plastic pump body, so yes take it apart and clean it, the seal is made by the diaphragm not the faces so a little bit of Vaseline on the seal itself, I did this one about 3 years ago and our caravan before that ??

Thanks - off to the shops to buy some Vaseline later then!
Be careful of your French "I want some vaseline to make my pumping better" could give some interesting permutations!!!!
