Shurflo pump

I changed my 20 psi for a 30 but have now changed it back as it was noisy. I have also boxed around the pump with some plywood and insulation. I would stick with a 20 psi one as well.

Agree with sticking with a 20psi.

Pipes should be fine, but some water heaters etc can't take 30psi.

PS - I fitted a couple of Fiamma 20psi pumps last year and not sure if it was luck but they were almost silent

Stick to 20psi no need to put extra stress on the plumbing.

Ok thanks everyone. I have read you can mount the pump on some ridged insulation to reduce the noise it makes.

We used anti vibration mounts, and moved the pump away from a thin locker side panel which acted like a drum skin.

Mine appears to just be screwed to the floor. No problem normally but if you use the loo and sink at night it wakes the other half up so i just want to deaden the sound

Need to swap my pump its 20 psi can i change to 30 psi or will the extra pressure blow my pipes open.

Your pipes should be fine. If they're not, they were on the way out anyway. However, some water heaters and associated pressure relief valves are not. Check your water heater for rated maximum working pressure.

I was thinking the same a while back, then penny dropped: the reason I put a 20 psi at the beginning was that my water heater boiler is rated for 20 psi cold pressure, any more will make the pressure release valve to leak. Make sure your water heater is ok for 30 psi before you change. Mine isn’t. It’s for 20 psi.

I will just stick with 20 psi just need to find out how to make it quieter now
