On the Hymer B544 that we have just purchased there is a worn area on the shower tray as shown in the attached images.

Is this serious and will it let water leak through to the underfloor?

Any ideas on at least tidying it up if it isn't too serious?

Thanks

We have some cracks in our shower tray and have booked for it to be "speedcoated"
expensive at around £350-£380 but cheaper than having a new shower/bathroom floor fitted.
Speedcoat was recommended by a fellow funster...Good luck with finding a solution.

If it's likely to be a while before you can do that, I would be tempted to scrape off the flakey bits and cover it with mastic to be on the safe side.

I imagine it's like that because it's been a beggar to clean in the past and has been scrubbed, thus removing the protective waterproof coating... I'd be tempted to clean it up, cover it with waterproof sealant then 'square off' the area by making a cover for the whole bit and stick it on permanently so you don't have a cleaning problem in the future.

The and coating has cracked, probably because it's been cleaned using bleach, Never use bleach ! It most certainly will leak and cause more damage.Use a professional to assess and repair. Probably costly, but essential.

That doesn't look like a plastic shower tray to me so it has either been repaired before and that is what is coming away or looking at it, it is possible that it is a fibreglass tray and what you are looking at is a bubble under the gel coat from when it was made.

I think @funflair is right on shower tray - I have a 1993 B544 and it dosent look like yours.

Great little van by the way - when you get the little jobs done you will love it.

The people on here have been brilliant for all my questions which I’ve had 15 months now.

If you are considering having it Speedcoated check witrh your local man first (it's a franchise) as that looks a bit of a b----r. But please don't try resealing it with anything until it's done as the process needs it to be scrupulously clean and sealant is very difficult to remove.

As the guy who did mine said! (Well actually he used a bit stronger language!)

Has it coated in the past?
I think I would make some kind of dam across the corner and fill it with resin or some such

enough to know i shouldnt touch things i know nothing about ....
it all depends on your wallet as to what type of fix to undertake. there are lots of cheap fixes around all of which will prob work for a period of time before you get it repaired properly so it lasts ...
