My boss hires out a roller team pegaso and the customers are complaining that they are getting nasty cuts on their arms when they pull the release for the grey water.

I've attached a few pics, anyone had this issue and any thoughts on how to fix it? I can only think of getting some tape that matches the skirt colour and tape up the sharp edge.

Is it the grey return edge of the skirt near the pull lever causing the damage if so simply glue on a length of pipe lagging to the edge
if not room for that, a piece of u channel rubber or even a short hose split and pushed on should sort it.
To avoid confusion It should be labeled "waste water drain"

Not suffered with this.

You know if you had to put together 10 pieces of paper and you had to join them then there is a sort of clip A4 in length that goes down the left hand side of the paper. In the right colour would that a possible solution ?
If its a longer length then B and Q might have something plastic which is similar that they use for like bathroom showers or windows and just slide it on.

Would love to give you a name for what i am thinking of !!!!!

Yes geo the skirt angles under the van towards the release and finishes with a sharp edge. I tried it and when you do pull the release I can see how some people would scratch their wrists.

Some good ideas there, I'll see what I've got lying around the workshop. Thanks for your help

Yes a bit of the shower edging would probably be ideal.

I cut a small length off an old 110 cable, wripped the cores out leaving a slit right down the middle and slipped that over the sharp edge. It's pretty well hidden and fits reasonably well.

The boss is out later and she'll check it and if she like it I'll go back and run a bit of sikaflex in the cable sheath and reattach it to stop it falling off.

Should sikaflex keep it well stuck?

Yes if this doesn't work that edge guard stuff will do the trick Lenny

Or how about solve the issue by sanding the sharp edge smooth with fine wet n dry? just round off the 2 90 degree edges and any residual moulding edges. You should be able to rub your bare wrist against it without it scratching the skin. A smooth surface would solve this

That would do it but it really should have been smoothed off before. To be fair it doesn't feel sharp until you operate the pull valve then you see how people have managed to draw blood.

If they don't like the bit of sheath I've put on they can get some of Lenny edge guard. I've got too much bits of metal to stick together to worry about someone else's van

We have a 747 from new. This happened to my husband often. The lever broke twice so decided to put a tap valve on instead. Works perfect now no blood drawn anymore::bigsmile:

Hi Gillus, handle just broke on mine and the valve is closed shut. Any info on what you replaced it with and where do you get it from?

Hi Steves sorry for delay in replying. He got it from Amazon. Its a BMPM/2/way PVC ball valve union socket 50mm. Brand tameson. He had to cut the original pipe so it fitted the valve. It was £22.95. Hope that helps.
