Hi.
I have an existing 100w panel. I would like to add another 150w panel.
I'm unsure of the most efficient way to connect the two panels.
Advantages/disadvantages of connecting series v parallel ?

I have a a 40amp mppt controller.

Thanks for any input.
Phil.

Welcome to the forum. You will soon get many replies from knowleagable people. In the meantime put ''series or parallel' into the SEARCH box at the top of the page, it lists many threads on this subject. Parallel is most common.

Parallel is the best for panels of different output power. In series, the amps must be the same, and will be the amps of the lowest power panel.

In parallel, the voltages must be equal, but the amps can be different. If you heven't bought the extra panel yet, look at the maximum power voltage of the existing 100W panel (Vmp on the data sheet). Then try to find the second panel with the Vmp as closely matching as you can.

Thanks Autorouter.
That helps me alot, good advice, thankyou.
Phil
