Selling a vehicle through Autotrader

Those who've used this route, do you always converse/email through Autotrader? I suspect it's dubious but a contact is asking me to reply direct which would be the user number I'm seeing I guess?

I have been contacted via private emails and phone numbers. No problem.

I think its just folk trying to bypass the phone call fee which can be a few ££. While I dont think its suspicious but buyer/seller beware.

Thanks for those replies, we have to talk sometime I suppose if the guy needs to view so I was being over cautious. Perhaps it was the Nigerian email address that frightened me !

The last time I tried to sell a car on autotrader, (a long time ago) I mainly got calls from companys who wanted to charge me £50 to connect me to a guaranteed buyer they had on their books, I said thats great if you have a guaranteed buyer I am more than happy for you to deduct the £50 fee out of the sale price when the transaction goes through. I always hung up half way through their explanation of why it doesn't work like that.

Don’t worry he has millions in his bank account. He offered me 1.5 million just to use my bank account details.

However, he may be running short because, when I asked for 2 million up front, as a gesture of goodwill, he backed out.

I just tell them I'll go and find the paper work, they've always gone by the time I remember to check.
