Well almost. What was the C&MC Stamford site a couple of years ago has now opened as a Forestry England site. Last year it was operating as an Aire with no facilities it has now reopened as campsite. It opened on the 1st April but does not appear to have been advertised other than on the Forestry England website as Fineshade Wood. It is on the A43 between Corby and Stamford, close to the A1 and Peterborough (NN17 3BB). Last night there were 4 vans on what is a 82 pitch site.

In the first image the white wall is the dog/bike wash next to the motorhome service point. The fence to the right is the walkway to the toilets and cafe, further to the right is the entrance.

Looks very nice BUT just look at the stupid rip-off Britain pricing!!!

Cheapest - Thirty pounds plus for two seniors one night . Absolutely crazy, thank goodness we go into Europe for our holidays.

Such a shame-this was a lovely site when run by CMHC. Last year as an Aire it just deteriorated as the year went on. Hardly ever anybody there. I hope Forestry England are going to give it a bit of attention, it has great potential, you can just wander straight into the forest from your pitch.

Not sure where you're looking but their
Website has pitch incl EHU @ £18/night for 2 seniors for mid July.

Hardly 'rip-off Britain pricing'...

This is how I saw it when I looked at the website for two seniors 16th - 17th July 2026...

Again, 2 Adults, 2 Seniors...

Looks like their default settings (which pre-populates 2 adults) might be a bit of an issue...

But I would still ask why charge per person?
Because there's more use of the (albeit limited) facilities?
Because they can?
Because it's standard UK practice?
Because it's their choice?

Feel free to contact them directly for a more definitive response! ;)

We stayed there in February, arrived and had the place to ourselves before three more turned up

They had a big issue with surface water running through the site, aggravated by the numb nuts who still used the grey water dump despite being filled with gravel, that must have taken some clearing

Great location for the forest walks , I appreciate the lower price for over 60’s although some could rightly argue that’s also unfair 🤔

Because some of us travel solo. I go ‘grrrr’ when a campsite has a fixed price foe a vehicle plus 2 adults.
I agree with you. I have toured as single in the past but I am now lucky enough to be touring as part of a couple. The single are clearly disadvantaged by the cost of touring and having per person elements in charges is fair and reasonable.

Just checked and it’s £32 for one night the third week in May for 1 adult and 1 senior, what were the facilities like, adequate or good for that price?

IS it walkable to Stamford and/or are there local bus routes passing by the site?

£22 grass or £25 hard standing when I just checked 🤔

There must be something confusing on the booking options

I did notice that if you pick camper van you get a 6m pitch

Strange, but £32 sounds about right, maybe I’m getting used to the prices? Highlands End £48 a night in June. That’s crazy. Pity there are hardly any ACSI sites in UK

Depends on the site. If it's no facilities whats the difference if its one two or four people. If it's got a toilet block it's going to be more cleaning etc the more people so a small amount per person makes sense. The biggest limit is likely to be the number of pitches available so the cost for the pitch ought to be the biggest part of the cost.
When all is said it's their site as long as it's clearly set out what the price is the market will dictate

When I checked when it first opened I got it at £30 a night for two seniors. May be it was for four adults as above, but I didn’t think so. But also all those prices are “offers” so normal price higher. They have no intention of installing a toilet block except at the car park so will be interesting to see how popular it is given the CAMC view that no facility sites are unpopular.

Even if there are no showers and toilets a single person uses less water, produces less rubbish to be removed at commercial rates and if the site is on tanked waste produces less sewage to be pumped out. If there is EHU included in the price then a single person is likely to be heating a smaller motor home and brewing smaller amounts of tea. Why should they be charged for what others are producing.

They are valid points. But compared to the overall cost of operating the site not likely to be a big factor especially if electric is metered. There is probably a bigger difference between units with the same number of people depending whether they are heating the awning!

I agree there could be other differences. I like metered sites because I truly resent paying for other people’s attempts to heat their awnings.

Nowhere near Stamford
Maybe 7 or 8 miles

Don't know about buses
According to Google maps, there's the Rutlander, stop is about 20mins walk from the information centre.

You're probably better off staying at Ferry Meadows Peterborough and taking public transport to Stamford
