Plastic gets old and brittle and of course hairline cracks form in things like shower trays and sinks.

We had cracks like this in our shower tray as well.

After a bit of reading around and not wanting to just bodge it with sealant or resin I decided to go down the belt and braces route and paint the tray with protectakote WB. This is a waterproof, low slip paint that you ‘apply’ with a paint brush. After cleaning and sanding down the surface, I went for 4 coats to hide the grey colour of the unit underneath. I masked off a line part way up instead of painting the whole thing which seemed the right thing to do...time will tell.

I’m pretty pleased with the results and the look and how it’s extending the life of the bathroom fittings and keeping water where its supposed to be!

I got it from https://www.newventureproducts.co.uk/

Hi MarkQ,

Just wondering how your Protectakote WB repainted shower tray has performed...I've got a few cracks in my acrylic shower tray which I need to repair :sneaky:

Does the anti-slip make it feel rough underfoot and difficult to clean? Do you think it's necessary when the shower tray already has bumps in it?

I'm swithering about buying the anti-slip or the smooth. Also, why did you choose Protectakote WB rather than Safekote WB?

Thanks for any advice
Helen
