hi guys . for a change on-route going to one of our favorite Aires ( savines-le-lac ) bill said instead of going the route -de-Napoleon the N85 we would take the D1090 over the col-du-lautaret . the D1090 from grenoble-briancon was our first time but would not be the last hopefully . we don't but the route was a FLT'S dream all along the way without folk wanting to move you on especially at the summit . what a drive it was has to be the best yet & having had 7 m/h's we have been on many but i must say i nearly had to change my pants a few time ( i don't like heights ) . our dash cam footage is superb to re-watch this YouTube vid is going the opposite way to us & our trip was 2021 august about 34c. val

Our favourite way to get to Guillestre where we have spent a lot of time. One of the best places to holiday IMO. Hot in the day and cool at night in the Summer.

Needs snow

It is an amazing place in the Summer too. If you like climbing and walking with a bit of cycling, it’s hard to beat. 👍

A fabulous road on a motorbike.

Went over that with our 5'er in September 2009 en route to Croatia, a bit of snow around.

hi guys . we was heading for l'argentiere-la-bessee camping car park nobody there only us down to covid plus the French don't like paying on Aires. see photos really nice stopover before the lake Aire. people say you shouldn't be going bringing back covid i will tell them THAT you are much safer touring than walking around Tesco's nobody puts masks on in those places we still do now . val

hi tombola. you will one day god's good & the devils' not bad if you treat him right . val

Great spot. We've done it a couple of times when following the TdeF. The avatar photo was taken a couple of 100 metres up the road coming down off the Galibier.

It's a good slog cycling up from Briançon into a head wind!

Lovely views, and for an Alpine Pass not too demanding by the look of it.
What I would fear most are some of those "Balcony roads" in France, bad enough in a small car, great on a motorbike/pushbike, but no way in an A class unless you want to tear the roof & sides off it!
I have watched a few "you tube Vloggers" do some in their van conversions, I dont think somehow they would want to do them again, even though Google Earth may suggest they are OK if care is taken.
