There is a lot of coverage of Edinburgh about the bin men strike.
Allegedly the strike may spread across Scotland.
Touring in a MH with nowhere to empty rubbish may not be the best holiday, and sites may get overwhelmed.

There are a lot of complaints about too many MH in Scotland, especially along the coast road in the far North.
Is anyone up there at the moment who can report back?

We were planning to spend September wandering around Scotland, but we don't really want to be constantly abused by the locals as we wade through rubbish drifts.

Reports back from feet on the ground (or in a MH) most welcome.

Been in Scotland for a week, didn't know there was gonna be strikes, don't let it spoil your trip.

Yep.. bin men on strike South Ayrshire and East Ayrshire definitely..... sure other areas have/will follow..

It doesn’t happen except on Twitter, go and enjoy Scotland, they are a friendly bunch

On our way home after nearly 3 weeks in Scotland love it and it’s been great.
Just go and enjoy it.
I would add that while the north west coast part of the N500 is lovely it’s not an area I would go at this time of year.
But that our choice.

Dear oh dear! What papers/press/internet sites have you been reading and are influenced by re the comments about 'lots of complaints' and 'constantly abused etc'?
So - as one who lives up here in Perthshire, and lived on the route 500 for many years and enjoy my motorhoming here and south of the border - at the moment, all is fine though the binmens's strike is spreading to all regions allegedly. Edinburgh is admittedly bad just now by all accounts but as its festival time I wouldn't go near the place anyway.
Out for a run today round here (Loch Tay et al) it was noticeably quiet and this a Bank Holiday weekend too. So - yes , go for it - but with an open mind please. If you're still unsure best to stay south etc. Whatever you decide have a great holiday

October for us, love the views, love quiet sites even more 😁👍

Heading here , can’t believe we have never been, have you Ralph-n-Bev ?

DavidG58 yes we have 👍 xx
Be nice if we were there with you and Bev sometime.
I’m waiting for Ralph with the dogs while he gets our fish n chip supper. We’ve been in the Sun since 4.30. Bit tipsy 🥴

I've been there many years ago David when we lived in Cornwall, and again earlier this year when it was a much shorter journey to get there

I much prefer the title we used to use for this game.

Wed, Bed or Shed - more elegant

We are touring scotland 6 wks just started 2nd week, so far not seen any signs of this but we dont get yo edinb for few wks on way back. First time in scotland and we have not been disappointed, campsites v busy suggest u book. Loch tay today.

Getting quieter now, Scottish kids back in school and summer holiday makers mainly over , bin strikes are spreading to most areas now but unlike Edinburgh are for short periods only ( last 4 days only here in North Lanarkshire) with little disruption to bin collections , don’t believe the nonsense in the press we are very friendly and welcoming folk , NC500 route is popular and busy most of the year but don’t let that put you off seeing some spectacular scenery, book ahead if you are using sites.

Stay in The Borders or D&G, no bin strike here yet and it is beautiful and quiet as most folk keep going north!!!!

There is also a Funsters stop over here at Puddleduck Towers, just off the A697, for any Funster who needs it.

Yes,amazing! Why they think anyone needs a postal service for the majority of stuff any longer is curious. A dying business I would have thought. Most stuff can be done by email nowadays. One postal delivery per week would be sufficient for things like magazines and routine blurb.

DavidG58 Stayed at Clachtoll in May, fab site with great guys running it and for any ladies on board, there's a lovely lady who keeps her own sheep and dyes the wool beautiful colours, tucked away up the hill a little 😊 have a great time

Forgot to add , most campsites and commercial / retail /hospitality outwith major cities don’t have council emptying bins , they have contract waste/recycling companies dealing with rubbish etc, so shouldn’t have any issues if staying on campsites.
