We are very pleased with our Teleco dish as fitted by Hymer.

But we have to go too far south with it.

If you were to have asked last week you could have had my Oyster 2...
But I gave it to scrap man.
Never used it for 3 or 4 years and it was heavy and taking up roof space..
Now me and Gus have fitted another Solar Panel instead...now that's a useful item..
I still watch TV...love footie...but it's not through a Sat system...it's Data fed Firestick...unlimited...not affected by trees or other objects..footprints...just turn it on and stream

We purchased a Maxview Vuqube 2 about twelve months ago and it's been great.
I was fed up with no signal in wales, smart TV and firestick not working. Only weighs 3kg and you can transfer it to another motorhome if you wish.

Not many bother fitting one these days. The initial cost is high and the long term outlook isn't great. Most are using mobile internet and a smart TV or something like a Firestick.
This is what we do because we're mostly well out of the area where it would work. I have absolutely no desire to go to Scotland but wonder how firestick + internet would work up there.

Maxview are a UK based company who sell decent kit and give excellent after sales support. The new ones offer a very simple way for the end user to update the software if needs be.
Data driven TV is great if you have an unlimited or large data allowance and you can get a reliable signal... which sometimes you can't! Roaming charges have come back since 2021 and lots of providers have cut the allowance down significantly whilst abroad and at around 1gb an hour that is easily used up watching the TV. Starlink is an option but not cheap....
We still use a dish by choice as no issues with reception or in all the UK (even Scotland) and Northern Mainland Europe.

Until you’re in a weak signal area and it buffers .
We are in that very position on site in Spain at the moment , even with a roof mounted antenna the signal is 2 bars at best and sometimes 1
Can’t get evening TV without consistent buffering and freezing and we are using a firestick

Not experienced buffering since I mounted my Poynting rooftop..
There are some things you could try..clear cache on Firestick and also Force stop on apps that can run in the background...
We have 3 phone SIM contracts... Vodafone, Orange and Telefonica...
Normally I have the Telefonica SIM in the router and the others on two phones...
Summertime with the van in the shade of the trees a Sat wouldn't work but IPTV does... essential for World cup, Olympics etc...

Tree’s aren’t an issue where we are at the moment .
I can manually change networks , tried Movistar , Orange ES , Vodafone es none are any better than two bars at best
being reliant on the phone network is a not a reliable way for watching evening TV .
Been caught out in to many remote places where the phone signal crap 💩

I don't understand why people want to watch TV when on holiday ....🍿🍿

(We have a satellite dish, TV aerial, fire stick, Netgear router, starlink and mobile phones to make sure we can !!)

We always get a signal one way or another!

Cheapest running option (not Inc initial install/purchase) is TV aerial or sat dish, followed by mobile phones (or Netgear) if unlimited data. Starlink is the go to when overseas.

If you can get a reasonably priced pre loved sat dish, I would certainly consider it, especially if you can install yourself.

We have all four mobile network sims in our phones to "ensure" we get a signal!

Stops you having to talk to each other!

That's what we did, a second owner Snipe 2 from another Funster (RIP) and fitted ourselves. Doesn't take long to use the couple of hundred quid in data that we paid for it!

I’m not on holiday I’m out in Spain for the 3 months to escape the cold weather .
Evenings are long so it’s a form of entertainment to pass the time .
You can only read for so long at night

you may have not noticed the irony of my post ......... access to TV is only just below access to fuel to be able to travel in my opinion .....

Thing is though, would you get UK programs on a satelite there anyway ?

Astra 28E covers to the bottom of Spain for Sky News, CNN and lots of others channels. BBC & ITV are lost mid to South France unless you point at Telstar for Satback but that signal isn't confirmed yet following a move.

Been using a Phone with Vodafone and one with Orange for perhaps 20 years here in Spain...only a couple of times have we had a signal issue..
Now we park in very remote areas where we demand a better signal...Teltonika router with Poynting antenna works well..
Come and park next to me anytime.. I'll not draw the curtains...you can watch through my window.. 😂

Im here in Morocco, we can watch what we want, when we want. Catch bloomberg most mornings, watched the Rugby live on Saturday, wife has been watching pottery throwdown. All on Maroc Telecom. Same in Spain, France, Portugal, almost anywhere.

You could have my 57cm lidl/Aldi metal dish for the cost of postage . Would need a new LNB. At least you could see if it's worth spending more, and does it work for you. Quite honestly, it's a load of faff if you are moving around, and with any less than a 1 metre dish, no signal near the med.

I’m on the Med using an 85cm automatic dish with autoskew
Currently watching Euro Sport via Astra 28

At home apart from the news we vary rarely watch normal tv - 99% streaming which is not possible via a dish. Until somebody corrects me to say it is.

We have the factory fit Oyster, its very good.
Yes..that's the one I had...until last week..
Used to work well before the reduction of the Astra 2 footprint..
But I found a more suitable alternative, which works well for me... especially as Unlimited data plans cost as little as 15€ a month...
In my honest opinion for what it's worth..receiving TV via an antenna of any sort is very dated.

we all think differently you may wish to travel frequently and put importance of fuel high in your list of priorities .
I have no wish to spend days driving about Europe
I find driving a chore and always take the shortest route to my destination via ferry both ways
Only come out for the warmer climate to one place then go home after 12 weeks
