Santander ferry

You can only board when they tell you, arrive early if you like and wait in the queue.

Lucky you.

Enjoy !

What time is early for 2200 hours . Think its three hours before.
Go as early as you want, they can only tell you to return later and plenty of places to park up such as Port Solent.
Must be there at least 90 minutes before departure.

Use the time parked up waiting to board. Once parked up they like you to depart the vehicle deck quite quickly. Prepare your overnight bags with all you will need, toiletries, nightclothes, medication, warm jacket for on deck viewing etc. Make sure you pack electrical adapters as the onboard sockets are euro style 2 pin. I also take out my euros purse with some cash and the fee free credit card and pay in euros onboard. I make up a cool bag with travel kettle, mugs flask of milk and a few tea bags, a packet of biscuits and so on for a bedtime and early morning cuppa. Don’t forget book/kindle.
Have a great time.

Good advice but in my experience the onboard exchange rate at the tills makes it better to pay in Sterling.

Used it many many times. Average time is around 1,5 to 2 hours prior to sailing. Not noticed any difference what ship it might be.
To add, if you are at the front of the que obviously you will be on earlier but will have waited in that que, if arrived late and at the back less waiting in the que but later to board.

And probably later to disembark and sit waiting to get going. When we took the 2200 sailings we got in at 0800 approximately: we prefer to get to Portsmouth early knowing traffic problems will not spoil our ferry trip and get back on the road ASAP

Sadly you are in the hands of the crew and you will see people in similar vans arriving later than you but getting on before you ☹️

Have a safe journey down :giggle:

Ah well we are setting off early to allow for traffic. Will hole up in Portsmouth have a mooch then head to port early evening.
Thanks folks . Which way to the Beach)
Good place to park up as bays are end on so no worries about fitting in one space.

We managed to find a parking spot for our 6m camper near to the Dockyard a few years ago and had a look round, we had been meaning to do it for years and the drove to Eastney Esplanade and parked up for a snooze

Can recommend Port Solent large free carpark few shops nice walk around harbour loads of restaurants. About 15 min drive to port. Sat waiting to board only seen 5 Motorhomes and one tugger.
The excitement builds

I confess to being envious but lack the confidence to face possible traffic lights.
