Has anyone found out where you can get coat hangers with a clip so they don’t come of the rail when going over rough ground. Living on the Fens some roads are like have a show-ground ride. I have only found one supplier but they are expensive. Sure I have seen them somewhere or suggestions on how to stop them jumping off the rail.

Cheers M-J seen those but would like to take the hangers off sometimes sure I have seen some with a spring clip somewhere

I put ours on backwards and they don’t come of anymore, worth a try

Like the ones in Hotels? I would simply slow down. That much bouncing can't be good for the van.

Have you tried putting pipe lagging over the bar? That will help the hangers to grip.

We actually live on an unmade road and have never had a problem with clothes or hangers coming off the rail. Maybe you're travelling too fast for the road conditions.

It depends where the wardrobe is positioned relative to the rear axle. I've not had a problem prior to owning the current van. The wardrobe is as far to the rear as is possible without it being external and is therefore at the very end of the rear overhang. It takes very little to cause clothing disaster. As already suggested face the hook the opposite way. It works for me.

This may take a time little to picture.

Buy hangers with a small kick out on the open end of the hook or bend one with pliers.
Slip a strong rubber band over the hook.
Hang the garment and hanger on the rail.
Pull the rubber band under the rail and over the kick out on the hook.

Loop the band two or three times over the hook to shorten or tighten it

We had similar in the Winne; due to the wardrobes being right at the rear. Got some foam pipe lagging (large) pushed it OVER the hangers, This held the hooks on the rail and the gap at the top above the rails was almost filled so nothing came off?.

My wife bought several coat hangers that used a spring loaded clasp, a bit like a carabiner principle, they were great but cannot find them even on ebay now and I have looked.

Once again the power of the Funsters have come up trumps for some ideas thanks to all. Reading the posts it’s because the wardrobe is at the rear in our new van Chausson 640 so thanks for that suggestion. I can also rule out driving too fast but again thanks for pointing that out too

When we get a new MH/camper one of the first things I do is shelve it and turned into a pantry with all our clothes getting neatly folded and put in cupboards.(y)
