Well, that was a shock. Our first Campervan and our first quote for comprehensive cover. (Devitt)
Factory fitted immobiliser, but not tracker.
£1500 / year

The agent kindly gave me an idea of the quote with a Thatcham S5 Tracker...£658 / year.

Makes a huge difference.

Sadly, we cant get the tracker fitted (where we originally were going to get it fitted) because we're already booked to go away, and the folks who were going to fit the tracker are changing premises/personnel. Everything was all nicely scheduled in advance (because I plan stuff properly), and then the dealer told us the vehicle would be a week late. That threw everything out the window and we had to cancel hotels and rebook stuff for our trip to get the vehicle.

On the plus side, the insurance agent did confirm that if we get a tracker fitted a few months later, they'll recalc the price on the policy and refund us. I spoke to a friend who's been in the insurance industry for 20+ years and he said "Yeah, that's pretty common. You have to tell us about changes and sometimes they do drop your policy cost and we can refund you. I don't see you having an issue with this." Personally, I'd not heard about it myself.

Another interesting thing. The vehicle will be stored at a CaSSOA Platinum site when it's not in use.
Made absolutely no difference to the premium. I was shocked, as that costs us £700 a year for storage.

The agent said "It makes no difference to us. Obviously to you it does, as it's guarded, patrolled, under CCTV and has fob entry through multiple gates. That's good for you. It means nothing to us, because as far as we are concerned, your vehicle is stored with 500 other vehicles, and other people will be around your vehicle from time to time, getting their own Moho's and campers. They have fobs for the site. So as far as we are concerned, there are "other people" around your vehicle. Fobs can be passed to unsavoury people. Bottom line is, the security of the site means nothing to the premium, sorry !"

So I said "So if I stored it on my drive, it'd be the same premium ?" and she replied "Yup."

The things you learn !

I will add for clarity and context to avoid any confusion.

The delay to getting my alarm system fitted has been down to my dealer repeatedly changing the dates for collection of my vehicle. The installers of said system have been faultless in shifting multiple reschedules to try and fit me in.

Shop around? I had a security device fitted a week after ordering it

Mobile fitter fitted ours at the dealers the day before we picked it up.🙂

I obtained quotes from several sources, both with and without an S5 tracker, none of the dual quotes made a saving greater than the annual renewal cost of a tracker contract, never mind the purchase and installation costs.I already have multi-layered security - including self-monitored tracking and Vanbitz Growler etc.
Not worth paying the extra for S5 in my case.
The saving from installing a bollard in front of my vehicle at home was so small as to not pay for a take-away curry, so didn't persue that avenue either

I renewed last week - the premium reduction for the Metatrack immobilizer from Comfort was about £20 so I declined it. On the exceedingly slight chance that I forgot to set it, they said they could refuse all cover so what's the point?

A £1500 initial price is a quote that rather indicates they dont want to insure it at all without a tracker fitted

Similar experiences from me.

Tracker made little to no difference to premium, however dashcam did (especially dual / multiple camera). When I told them I have an 8 camera system monitoring inside and out they seemed quite impressed!

I'll probably add a tracker at some point for my own benefit - but not for insurance reasons.
