Anyone had this happen?

On our trip round Scotland this happened twice, never happened before and skylight was tightly closed both times, neither time were any other doors or windows opened. It was very breezy at times and there is always a sound of air noticable round this skylight but I always assumed they're not supposed to be "airtight"

Anyone ever heard of this?

There are to versions. One air tight and the other open vent. Which basically means they don’t fit the seal, or cut part of it away. We had one of each, which I changed to both sealed. Once the blind has gone once it will be much more prone to doing it again.

Yep, all the time for past 10 years.

Leave the shade open and tiny bits are all over our bed and that’s what happens when you close it.

I opt to hoover up the bits. To fix it you’ll either have to gently tug off the entire surround and put the runner back which is very fiddly and ends up weakening them, or try doing it in place.

I take the surround off as I can clean behind it as well.

If you fully open the roof vent you will see a channel going around the full diameter. This will either have a full black neoprene seal, part a seal, or no seal.

Is there any chance of a photo of what I need to look for - have the same issue and van is in store and would like check - and if I can, order the seal if there available to fit

I'll go take a quick pic / video now of mine

Right here we go.
Im assuming that the seal would be in the plastic channel. Anyone know if these can be purchased?

You have a free air one, so no seal.
seal should be here.

Not had the roof ones buckle but the one over the drivers cab buckled early on in ownership as it was left closed one day when we where on the road and I opened the side window.
It's the first thing we check now when starting up.
The roof one "pants" when really windy and hatch closed though.

One hot calm evening in Spain we were parked up, rooflight wide open but paper blind more or less closed.

Damn pigeon strolled on to it... and buggered it! :(

Have discovered over time that due to heat etc the roof skylights either the blind or mosquito net can become hard to slide . Always carry with me a spray can of Silicone which can use on plastic runners, fly screen sliders or any other surface, does not smell or leave a stain. Can purchase from Tool Station or Screwfix and is a must to carry and use.

Happened to me they wanted over £1000 for a new skylight
So built one myself cost £75
And it’s water tight

Hi
We have had some times of a vacuum which caused this, strange 😡

No one has yet mentioned that the choice of ventilated/unventilated roof lights may have been a deliberate design choice to provide the required level of airflow for the use of gas appliances. When we self built our MH, we needed both low and high level vents to satisfy the safety requirements. The use of a ventilated roof light was the easy way of achieving this.

For a quick/cheap fix use door stick-on draught excluder, a couple of layers of it does the job for the smaller vents.

I have fitted a seal, fiddly, don’t over stretch it but equally needs to be stretched enough!
Also I took bottom cover bit and blind off as one of the little plastic hooks on cord that paper blind glides on had broken. Used YouTube, very very fiddly (lots of 🤬🤯 moments and I did it. I don’t let anyone other than me use that blind, I can’t face the thought of repairing again!!!!
Good luck

Ours blows down in strong winds and up when i take my jumper off whilst standing under it devil to get back either way
