Good morning. Hopefully there is someone out there who can help. I arrived on site yesterday in strong winds and noticed that there was something flapping about in the wind on the roof. Not having access to a stepladder, all I have been able to do is to stick my head out of the rooflight. It’s a piece of material, possibly felt, about 3 inches wide and running roughly the length of the awning that has become detached. It doesn’t look as though it’s part of the roof as such, more something that might cushion the awning. Sorry about the rubbish description, but it’s difficult to describe accurately from a distance. Any thoughts about what it might be? The van has just been washed, so it looks as if it’s become detached as a result of that.

Hopefully it is only something like this that has come loose, it slides in to a channel on the awning, if the rubber has suffered maybe the bead is detached

About £50 for a new one :giggle:

Thanks to both of you. That would make sense. No need to panic then!

Hi Peter. I know, I’ve tried taking photos but because I don’t have access to a stepladder and the roof light is a fair distance away from the offending item, they’re not particularly clear. Also, I’m ashamed to admit that I don’t know how to attach a photo to a post!

Well at least I’ve sussed out how to post a photo, but don’t know how helpful it is. Another to follow.

Well this is your thread so why not use it to practice putting a photo on(y)

The easiest might be a camera phone if you have one and also having access to Motorhome fun on the same device,

Martin

Too late, everyday's a school day

This one is even less helpful!

I think it is basically as suggested but possibly just a bit of foam that pushes in the gap.

Martin

Thanks, Martin. You’re absolutely right!

Agree with Martin, it’s a foam insert that is pushed between awning and body of the van, I have the same on mine...

Ask the site if they have a ladder to borrow and it should push back in...

Maybe take it out and give it a clean around the area first...(y)

Thanks, Smiffy. Will do.

Might be an idea to silicone it in place so you don't lose it altogether.
