A minor issue but one that I want to say goodbye to, I bought a van with two reversing cameras fitted and upon talking to the previous owner he told me that this RING thing was useless so he had another fitted.
The Ring camera is simply push fitted into the rear moulding of the van with a power cable disappearing under the bathroom floor to magically reappear, electricory is magic to me, via a jack plug at the dashboard.
So a simple question please, can I just snip the cable, one core at a time, insulate tape it and forget it or will this cause problems elsewhere.
My DIY electric attempts in the past have cost me money so should I leave this apparently simple task to a qualified electro magician. :rolleyes:
A RING thing monitor is going FREE here to whoever wants it (y)

Is the cable \ jack plug just the feed to a "missing" monitor that would have been located on the dashboard (or mirror)?
If so, there's probably a second power cable that will be connected to the reversing lights \ switch unless it was disconnected and used as the power supply to the replacement unit.

Why would you want to remove it? It sounds like it fills a hole in the rear trim of the vehicle so I would have thought it best to leave in place?

If you are not sure that the cable only feeds the Ring, leave well alone. Getting an auto electrician to sort out any ensuing problems will cost time and money

Thanks for your reply gents, l have the monitor but don't need to use it as the higher camera works brilliantly.
I can only see the one cable which looks as though it is simply the feed to the monitor so possibly there is another supplying power!
The camera is mounted on a metal bracket that is just slotted into the small gap between van body and rear valance so it is physically simple to remove just the electrickory to consider, l am wanting to remove it as it rubs against the van slightly, it is a minor irritation to clean around and l just want it out.
The monitor is free to anyone who may want it (y)
Happy Easter and stay safe ?

A thought has arisen here, could be dangerous :whistle2: the van is kept on a lock up site so unable to do it at present however, unslot the bracket with camera from the van, unscrew camera then push bracket completely through the gap and tape it up out of sight.
Simple :whistle2::whistle2:

Bring it to my house and by morning it will have vanished?

The camera will have a power supply and hopefully fused. The power supply can be wired into the system at either end of the cable. My monitor has a cable on it that is about 1 meter long, and then there is a joint to the cable that goes to cameras, pics up on the reverse switch power (so it auto switches) and pos neg to run both camera and monitor.

Only want rid of the camera not the van :rofl: :rofl:
Don't you be worrying. He'll be awfy careful!
