Reversing light not working

Hi all, old member that cant remember my login details

I have an issue and hoping you can help.

2004 Ducato 2.3, reversing light not working but I have power in the bulb holder.

Tried the reverse bulb and holder in the indicator and it works fine then tested the bulb and holder from the indicator in the reverse cables, nothing.
Found and cleaned the earth point, still nothing.

It must be the cabling somehow but when tested i still have 11.89v at the holder.

Any ideas?

Is the switch inside the box switching live, or earth? Could it be the switch just goes to ground, if working, so bulbs gets a feed but needs the switch for operation?

Finally managed to get to the switch on the gearbox and have ordered a replacement, hopefully that will fix it

If you've got voltage at the holder and a clear earth at the holder, you've got some sort of faulty bulb holder. Changing the switch on the gearbox won't help. Of course, if you haven't checked the earth and it is switched type, it could be that, but you might want to check first before going to the effort of changing it.
